I bought this as a christmas present to my husband. We are not big coffee snobs and have to have a latte or a cappuccino when we wake, but we do like quality products.
I thought it would be fun to try the espresso and its been a blast!
First of all, there are a few extras you need to purchase for this unit, a stainless steel milk carafe for the frothing, and a tamper for the espresso, and also a permanent coffee basket. (just to reduce use of filters)
A tip for not having a leaky coffee pot, LIFT THE LID WITH YOUR THUMB THATS HOLDING THE COFFEE POT. The lid gets in the way and drags the coffee on the outside of the carafe. Didnt take long to figure out how NOT TO SPILL my coffee. Or you can pour it really, really, really slow. :)
I had fun looking up "how to" videos online to making a cappuccino... Ive added flavors, whipped cream, tried half and half instead of 2%.
This is a great product, so far so good!

Before I bought this coffee maker, I read most of the reviews and I was slightly concerned with some of them. One said that they send the product back because the "pot dripped" when pouring coffee. Another one: The coffee is nor hot enough. And another one: The machine smells plastic. Well, they were all correct! The pot drips if you don't lift the lid. So, if you simply don't want to lift the lid and have 100 additional dollars available to avoid that pain then, go ahead, send the machine back... The coffee comes out at the same temperature as a coffee percolator which is far too low so... but hold on... IT IS A PERCOLATOR! And finally, it does smells plastic the first couple of times that it is used (the machine, not the coffee). Seriously, The only reason why I am not giving 5 stars is because there is not an automatic power off feature available and I tend to forget to turn the thing off. But, besides that, it's the best value that your money can buy.Customer Review: The smartest purchase, and greatest value!

I love my Mr. Coffee coffee and espresso maker. I was daunted by some of the negative reveiws it received, but I went ahead and purchased it anyway, because it was the only one I could afford. What a great machine! It does everything just like it's supposed to; it was so easy, I didn't even have to read the directions. The only thing I couldn't figure out at first was how the milk frother worked. I did not realize, (stupid me!) that of course you have to add MORE WATER THAN YOU NEED for the espresso, so that the EXTRA can be used for steam. Duh!!
I do not have a problem with coffee spilling everywhere, because I raise the lid with my thumb when I pour. And I think that the coffee is hot enough. Of course, I don't like my coffee scalding hot, either.
All in all, if I had it all to do over again, I would have done it sooner, and not spent so much time wondering and worrying about it. It truly is a remarkable machine for the price.

I had a Krups Il Caffe Duomo coffee and espresso maker for years and it finally leaked underneath and no longer foamed milk well, so I bought this Mr. Coffee. I bought it because the Krups Duomo was discontinued and the new similar model cost more and had poorer reviews than the Mr. Coffee. So far, I have never had trouble pouring from the carafe at all. It foams milk very nicely as long as you put enough extra water to create the steam. The manual gives guidelines. I do agree with some reviewers that sometimes the coffee doesn't come out quite hot enough - I find that only happens once in awhile. I also wonder why they've made the carafe such a very tight fit when you put it back on the burner - placing it in from a left angle seems to go best. In general, though, I am really pleased with this machine the more I use it. With practice, after having it for 3 weeks, I can make a really good latte as well as very good tasting regular coffee.Customer Review: Love it.

Following is a review I had prior to my recent contact with the Mr. Coffee company: "I'll keep this simple - I love everything about this machine except the coffee carafe. No matter how quickly/slowly or with/without the lid, the carafe leaks coffee everywhere. I'd give it a five star rating, but since I drink a lot of coffee, having to clean up spilled coffee every time I pour a cup is very frustrating, therefore I give it a four star rating. Also - I knew the details of this machine when I was buying it, therefore this isn't a negative, but it would be nice to have a clock/programming feature as well as an automatic shut-off."
I have since contacted Mr. Coffee about the carafe, and they responded immediately by sending me a new carafe (free of any charges). The new carafe works perfectly. I am completely satisfied with this coffee maker in every way and highly recommend it (it's actually the best coffee maker I've owned).
