Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Mr. Coffee DRX5 4-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, BlackCustomer Review: 20 oz coffee maker Summary: 5 Stars
I just got one of these and the box clearly says it makes 4 five-ounce cups of coffee. Not sure when a cup became five ounces. I guess Mr. Coffee decided that 8 ounces is no longer considered a cup, and this allows them to state on the box that it makes four cups. Anyway, you're getting a total of 20 ounces and that nicely fills my coffee thermos every morning as I leave for work. On weekends I drink the same amount, which is two eight-ounce cups, plus a few extra drops for warming it up. If you're expecting four eight-ounce cups look elsewhere.
Customer Review: Nice Little Coffeemaker Summary: 4 Stars
I've had mine for a few months and it continues to please.
If I were to have one critcism, it's that it takes longer than average to brew a pot of coffee. Considering that it only needs to brew 4 cups, I find this odd. The Cuisinart that was replaced took a lot less time to brew a pot.
Some people have mentioned the clock losing time. I haven't found that to be the case.
All in all, for twenty bucks, this is a very good coffeemaker.
Edited: Over 3 years old and still works like a charm.
Customer Review: What's Not to Like? Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this little coffeemaker for several months now and I just love it.
From the reviews I've read, people are either nit-picking (flip-up top, spillage when filling with water) or they happened to get a lemon, which can happen with anything. The pouring problem is easily remedied by using a little common sense and pouring from something with a spout: i.e. a 2-cup measuring cup. Voila! No mess. If the product just doesn't work, send it back and get a replacement. This is a great little coffeemaker at a great price.
Customer Review: Nice, LITTLE coffee maker Summary: 4 Stars
I ordered this coffee maker based on all the positive reviews, and I'm not disappointed.
It is the perfect size for 1 person (my husband prefers black coffee...not me!).
He loves it, it is easy to use, brews quickly, and is easy to clean.
HOWEVER: the pot does NOT hold 4 cups. I measured it out of doubt one evening, and it holds
just over 3 cups. It is just enough to fill a to-go travel mug. Which is all my husband needs in the morning,
but just wanted to let you all know of its short-comings!
Customer Review: Good basic coffee maker! Summary: 4 Stars
Used to have regular one. This is a replacement for broken carafe. Definitely an awesome "replacement"
Programmable ability makes me not need to wake up and go straight to the kitchen. Though, the amount of water that vaporizes during the brewing process is unpredictable! It's hard to put just well enough amount to make the coffee taste consistently. And, the fact that it keeps my coffee warm just only 30mins kills me. I know it's for safety. But some days I wanna sip hot coffee all afternoon without brewing a new load.
