Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Mr. Beer Premium Edition Home Microbrewery SystemCustomer Review: Its a good gag gift Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this cause I thought it would be neat. The beer smelled great and you get to learn a lot about how beer is made. After a day of the beer being in the barrel I noticed a small leak by the spigot. You have to sanitize everything and I wasn't sure what to put the beer in to retighten the spigot. Well, I got it all out and went to tighten it more and it broke. It also said in the book that you have to put sugar in the beer when you bottle it to carbonate it, which I thought was odd... but I never got that far. I thought this was an ok item and was a good starting point. I have since upgraded to a nicer system with Co2 cartridges for carbonation.
Customer Review: Mr. Beer Rocks! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm on my third batch of brewing Mr. Beer. This time I'm not using a Mr. Beer Kit but a Coopers English Bitter, and I have to say that Mr. Beer rocks. The pale ale is done to perfection after 6 weeks and the Sticky Wicket Stout is already almost perfect with a beautiful golden head over black black black creamy stout. I'm so into this product I ordered a second Mr. Beer keg so I can brew up two different beers at once. PS. Don't let any beer snobs tell you you can't brew 'real' beer in a Mr. Beer keg. On the Mr. Beer forum we have LOTS of guys who started out the old fashioned bucket brewing way and now prefer the ease of Mr. Beer.
Customer Review: Mr. Beer Keg Summary: 4 Stars
I like the set up (I have two). Even though many suggest not to, I've used the included yeast, with proper results. I would suggest using the booster & any sugar replacement, as sugar gives that "cider" taste till you let it sit.
Even reusing the "soda" bottle bottles, I've had some fine tasting beer.
The kit is easy to use, you can order more stuff online. It's a good kit to start brewing your own beer. Just follow the instructions & use a wooden spoon! I'm glad to see Target is carrying this, as well as a supply pack-good job.
Oh a neat guy gift, for certain.
Customer Review: Great place to start brewing! Summary: 5 Stars
I have made several batches of beer with this kit. In fact I now have two full kits and I am ordering extra bottles now. You WILL be needing more bottles as the brewing bug grabs you. This way you can keep a steady supply of beer on hand. I recommend buying the Coopers "UME" rather than the Mr Beer brand and using half the can. Its a better value. Also, when you start to experiment with other ingredients write down everything you do in each batch so if you hit on one you like alot then you can repeat the batch.... right now I am going through the many types and have yet to create a batch i dislike!
Customer Review: A Must Buy Item.. Summary: 5 Stars
The Mr. Beer was easy and fun to use. A monkey could do it, just follow each step. First batch came out super. I am NOT a beer expert, but it looks and tastes as good (or better) as any beer I have had. The added satisfaction of telling your guests "I brewed this myself" is an added bonus. It is a good gateway to more advanced brewing, or all you will ever need/want, if you don't want to spend a fortune on equipment. I did make one call to Mr. Beer to clarify a point in the instructions. Mr. Beer answered on the 3rd ring and the nice lady had an answer for me right off the top of her head.
