Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Moving Men 1545-12 8-Piece Furniture Slider SetCustomer Review: Moves Motorcycles too! Summary: 5 Stars
Now I don't expect the Moving Men company to condone this use, but these movers actually serve as turntable for my 800cc Motorcycle (~400lbs). The problem I was having is that there is an incline to my driveway so I am forced to drive in forwards on my motorcycle and park with my back to the door. To get out I had to carefully walk it out the door backwards, make sure to turn my wheel hard to the right so I could just fit onto the walkway then drive forward and turn hard to the left at slow speed while going down a hill and avoid contact with my car in the drive way. I got used to doing this, but a pain to say the least.
Finally one day I found a link on the internet that described using furniture sliders and a big black garbage bag (to further reduce friction) to turn a motorcycle around on the center stand. Well I had some moving men at home and couldn't wait to try it. I was so eager that I decided to forgo the garbage bag and just use the moving men.
The worked flawlessly. I simply put a moving men pad under each foot of my center stand, then pulled my bike on to the center stand. I then stand at the back of the bike and push down enough to get the front wheel off the ground and then push the the left or right. The bike spins around on a dime (the center stand actually) so I can face my driveway the next time I'm ready to go! Easy as pie.
One other note is that using the moving men under the weight of ~400lbs directly on concrete will probably make the moving men wear out quicker than if used normally. But when they cost $8 bucks for 4 big ones who cares.(I haven't tried the small ones, if they worked it would be $8 for 8. A buck a piece and a $2 solution) I expect mine to last maybe 2 or 3 months. But even if they lasted 1 month that's $4 a month, still very reasonable. I'll even throw a pair in my bag in case I ever get into a situation when I'm out that I need to do a 180.
A+ product.
p.s. I have used them on furniture too and the work perfectly!
