My Heeler owns two of these, and when he was a puppy, managed to chew to slivers the wooden brushes we had for him. These rubber ones are nice for a chewer, and he gets sooooo excited when it comes out of the cupboard. It doesn't necessarily get the fur off of him, but he loves it, and it's a positive experience. (Haven't tried it on the furniture!)
