Customer Review: Good quality but kinda huge?

I thought this would be a serving bowl for a family of 4 or so... I think it could serve a side dish for 12. I knew it was 13" across; that could have been what I was looking for except that it's also very deep...too big for a "regular" amount of a side dish. I'll keep it and use it for a main dish soup or small punch bowl.

As for quality, it's great...just what I expected from Mikasa. And, Amazon shipped it immediately and in perfect condition (HUGE box, though). I was glad that the glaze and everything matched my 10 year old dishes.

Mikasa has been around since 1948 and knows how to set a classy table. This round serving bowl is a very simple but pretty off-white color with a sculpted border of gentle curves. It's pretty enough to use for entertaining but also sturdy enough for daily use by the whole family. The stoneware goes from the oven or microwave to the table and then to the dishwasher. This large serving bowl--13 inches across by 4-3/4 inches high--is perfect for a giant batch of spaghetti, salad, even bread. --Doree Armstrong
