Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Mighty Putty 3-PackCustomer Review: Basic Epoxy Putty Summary: 4 Stars
Yes, Mighty Putty may have been over-hyped .... BUT it still is basic epoxy putty that has been around forever. I have used it successfully on damaged areas of a vinyl floor. Like when a chair is used in one certain spot and created a "pot hole" ..... I used the putty let it dry (added a tiny bit of water so it didn't stick to my hands), waited until it dried, sanded and painted brown (to match the vinyl floor) and it is much better.
I would never attempt to Mighty Putty a 50 lb weight directly above my bed or something crazy! But it works as well as all the other epoxy putties you see in the automotive or plumbing sections of your local Super Slave-Mart store.
I also successfully made a one horned ceramic Giraffe .... two horned again. His name is Kuanda and he is Might Happy to be fully behorned again.
Customer Review: Mighty Putty is a MENDER, not a miracle Summary: 5 Stars
I have used two boxes of MIGHTY PUTTY myself and given boxes to two friends. I LOVE it. It is advertised as a MENDER to "FIX, FILL, AND SEAL ALMOST ANYTHING" and lives up to its promise. I have used it on various small mending projects and find it to work as advertised. It is not advertised as a product for application of heavy objects.
I bought a large spoon to stir my cooking pots in 1966. Last year I dropped it and the hard plastic on the handle broke. I used my Mighty Putty and shaped a new handle. The spoon regularly goes through a dishwasher cycle and comes out just as I applied the putty.
I read a review of a man who used Mighty Putty to hang a towel bar. Didn't hold. Another used Mighty Putty to hang a CEILING FAN!!! Come on! How stupid are these people?
Customer Review: I thought it was just me! Summary: 2 Stars
I buy all my As Seen On TV Products from WalGreens so that I can take them back if I don't like them. I bought the mighty putty for future use, but when I got home I noticed that someone had damaged my address sign I keep in my yard. I proceeded to use the putty to reattach the PLASTIC letters. 2 days later and the letters still fall off when you touch them so I cleaned everything and tried again. This stuff is nothing more than Play-Doh.
That Click-A-Dent by Billy Mays also doesn't work. The Kaboom toilet foam doesn't work and, although Kaboom works, Arm and Hammer Bath cleaning products work much better and easier.
Edited to add: When I took the product back to WalGreens, the manager said it worked for him. He said he was able to reattach plumbing using it.
Customer Review: Worked for Me! Summary: 1 Stars
I can't imagine why this product is not working for some folks. I have used it in many applications and each time it EXCEEDED my expectations. My finest use is in my sales of handpainted concrete bulldogs. Occasionally, the leg or tail will break off if someone chunks them down too robustly. I have used Mighty Putty to repair the broken concrete and have been most pleased with the results and the ability to sand it down so that the repair is completely invisible. I've used it to plug up water leaks in our basement walls too. I give it a 5 -- I love this stuff!!
Customer Review: Not Really All That Mighty - Not Recommended Summary: 2 Stars
I really had high hopes for Mighty Putty, but it sadly did not perform as well as I hoped and expected.
The basic idea is very simple, you cut the amount you want off the roll and kneed it until it becomes a uniform color. You apply this to the items to be joined/repaired and in 24 hours you are supposed to get a very tight bond. With the exception of cracked planter, all of my other attempts to use mighty putty failed. I followed the directions exactly and could not get this stuff to work correctly.
A bit disapointing, not recommended.
