I tried several times, but could never get the fluff of the electric cookers, my boss is a South Indian he refused to eat it- believe me- he knows rice. I however use it since its quik and ez to clean . I recommend putting 1/2 to 1 cup water extra for each cup of rice and microwaving to the middle range of time--not the max recommended time. Also open the bowl as soon as it is done to prevent drying. Overall ok for singles, but rice quality simply absent. This rice cooker is inexpensive, easy to use, and cooks rice perfectly every time! No burning! Be sure to keep the instruction booklet that accompanies the cooker so you'll remember how much water per cup of rice, as you can cook different amounts. I always store the measuring cup, spoon, and small instruction booklet inside the cooker, so everything is handy and ready each time I use it. One perfect little pot! Works like a charm. I purchased this because of the great reviews. Well it is great. Thought I could make rice for a few dinners at a time, but I gotta tell you, it is so fast and easy, with especially easy clean up, I make a fresh batch each day! The Microwave Rice Cooker is great. We had one before but it was destroyed. We spent 2 months trying to replace it to no avail, We finally found it on line and bought 4 of them. One for us and 3 for friends. If you like perfect steamed rice, then this is the real deal. It takes 10 minutes and makes the best rice I have had. I thought it was a little small when I took it out of the box. However since it's just myself and my wife this little guy makes the 2 cups of rice we occasionally need that lasts us a night or two.
2 cups of rice + 1 3/4 cups water and 11 min later we have hot steamy rice. (1250 watt microwave)
The latches appear a little flimsy but they hold the top securely. It's easy to clean too.
