Customer Review: Weak Frame

This is a great zester...for as long as it lasted. I would have given it three stars except for its durability in relation to its price. Compact in size, utilitarian in action, it made fine zest out of all types of citrics, spices, and even chocolate. I could tell from the first time that I used the tool that significant strain was placed on the frame from the downward movement of zesting. Over time, small cracks appeared in the plastic housing around the metal insert. It was only a matter of time (two years in my case) that the plastic splintered leaving me with a handle-less and basically useless tool. If I had been more careful, for example, using it on a small bowl to provide support, it might have held up longer, but I am not one to coddle anything except my knives in the kitchen. I will be getting a different zester as a replacement.
