I am a grad student on a budget and I needed a floor lamp. But I am also interested in style and want to create a "home," my home. I bought this lamp not really expecting anything fabulous for the price, but it is actually very charming!

With the mica lamp shade, it gives a soft, soothing-to-the-mind amber glow to the room. For studying, I guess it wasn't the very best choice, but I love it. The stand has a cheap "antiqued bronze" finish (which really doesn't look so very cheap unless you get up close and stare at it), that is surprisingly heavy and solid and matches my d?cor of cream and black with accents of indigo and cranberry, but this lamp will match any color scheme.

It was fairly easy to assemble, even for a klutz like me. But, oh yeah, I bought one three-way light bulb whose low mode pooped out after two weeks. I would recommend buying a half a dozen light bulbs to go with it -- I wish that I had done so.
