Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Meyer Anolon Professional Skillet 8"Customer Review: Analon Much Preferred Over ... Summary: 5 Stars
Finally!! After waiting for so many years I decided to invest in some 'Good' cookware. Of course, not knowing "what" from "whatever", I decided to take the plunge and try a few different high-end cookware brands before suffering a huge out of pocket expense for an single set. Anyways ... I wanted to have some decent cookware to work with ... Afterall, it didn't seem right that I my husband would suprise me with a beautiful new ceramic top range for Christmas ... and have my cook in old dinged up cookware ... So of course, I did what any woman would do ... I went shopping :) I first purchased Farberware. For my second purchase, I chose this Analon pan & another Analon round griddle. My third purchase was a Calphalon Professional everyday pan which was an amazing deal & I just could not pass up. Stated simply & quickly? My Analon out worked and out sparkled them all! This pan is the absolute BEST ... it makes cooking a dream and clean up a breeze. It can take the most ordinary meal a complete delight to prepare and experience. If you purchase this pan, you will probably end up wanting to purchasing a second in the same or a larger size. Second to Analon is my Calphalon -- Although It comes very close (in my opinion) to Analon, I'd have to say that the third time I browned in it (and not at any extreme high temp) ... it held slight discoloration which was difficult to clean. I panicked at first, but found that although it does clean up well, not always as easily. On the other hand I was disapointed by Farberware ... My fry pans were sadly scratched exhibiting wear & tear within the first month of owning them! When purchasing this brand, read the warranty carefully. If it says that it can't take oven heat over a certain degrees ... it means you probably cannot cook range top in those high degrees either ... ((which doesn't make much sense to me when you are talking about fry pans, sauteuse or the like)) ... However, I would say that the Farberware sauce pans are just fine and have held up ok.
Description of Meyer Anolon Professional Skillet 8"Every kitchen needs a fry pan or skillet, your family size and cooking preferences determine which size will be most suitable. With non-stick cookware you choose how much additional fat or oil you'll add to your recipe. Heavy gauge anodized aluminum assures you a lifetime of impressive service. This professional-grade nonstick skillet is so perfectly balanced that you can actually flip an omelet in the pan without using a spatula. Hard-anodized cookware was first developed for the restaurant trade. The anodizing process makes aluminum up to twice as hard as stainless steel, and the aluminum core makes heating quick and even, eliminating hot spots. While this skillet's nonstick surface is exceptionally durable, metal utensils may cause scratches, so you're better off using plastic or wood. The stainless-steel handle is riveted in place for the strongest bond possible, and it's oven-safe up to 500 degrees F. When you get your pan, wash it with mild soap and condition it by rubbing a light layer of cooking oil across the surface. Avoid cooking sprays, as they can leave a residue and make food more likely to stick when you aren't cooking with oil. And medium heat is best--and all that's required--even for searing and browning. If you notice a white film on the nonstick interior from food starch or minerals, just wipe it away with a mixture of lemon juice and water.
