While I do think these aren't quite so useful for long-term storage, and the seals aren't always air-right, I do find them VERY useful for day-or-two storage, and to keep bottles 'covered'. i'm on my second set, as people either seem to walk away with these at parties, or they get 'lost in the shuffle' and are thrown out, but they fit just about any kind of bottle, they do what they say they'll do, and I find them very useful.
If you're REALLY picky about having an air-tight long-term seal, you MAY want to try something a bit different, as these aren't really meant for long-term storage, and the seals wear down over time, it would seem (or so i've noticed on my sets). But if you follow the instructions for use, you will have a very good run of use on these.
Description of Metrokane Vacuum Wine Stoppers, Set of 4
These extra stoppers are for use with Metrokane vacuum wine pumps. Works with Rabbit Vacuum Pump & Save the Wine Pump to remove air from opened wine bottles to keep wine fresh for days.The Metrokane push-button stopper works in tandem with any Metrokane Rabbit or Save-the-Wine vacuum pump to preserve the freshness of a partially-consumed bottle of wine. To use, simply insert the stopper firmly into the bottle mouth, place the vacuum on top, and pump out as much air as possible. The lack of oxygen helps keeps the wine fresh for several days, and sometimes as long as two weeks. When you're ready to pour again, push the patented button on top of the stopper and the vacuum seal is released. Four stoppers are included in this set, so that four half-empty bottles of wine can be saved at any given time. --Ann Bieri
