Customer Review: Nice if you want it for looks, terrible if you actually use it.

Although this shaker looks nice sitting on the counter with the rest of the set, it is TERRIBLE for mixing drinks. The very first time it was used my boyfriend (a previous bartender) was mixing a Mai Tai and when he removed the cap to pour the drink trapped liquid spilled out of it and all over his hand and the counter. When he then tried to remove the whole top in order to dump the ice into the sink more left-over liquid spilled out of the seal between the top and bottom sections and all over his hands again! After making only one drink he exclaimed that he really did not like the shaker. I'm tossing it and going back to get the the Metrokane Bullet instead, as recommended by Cook's Illusrated. Apparently what I should have done in the first place.

VIP Cocktail Shaker. Stainless steel and faux black lether 23 ounce shaker. Includes separate stainer and lid.Metrokane, maker of the famous Rabbit corkscrew, also produces elegant barware for the discerning home bartender. Holding 23 ounces, this handsome shaker adds sophistication to any cocktail party with its combination of gleaming 18/8 stainless steel and faux leather covering in a choice of red or black. Fine white stitching and a subtle pebbly texture give the imitation leather a very realistic look. A removable stainless-steel strainer and cap are included; all the stainless parts are corrosion-proof, and the faux leather is waterproof, so drips simply wipe off.
