I bought this as a replacement for our first Rabbit which finally cracked in the middle from over-use. We pretty much open at least one bottle of wine per day and I always tell my husband he should use the foil cutter first. But he is too lazy so the Rabbit has to work too hard pulling the cork through the foil. Nevertheless, the first one worked great for many years. When this new one arrived, I noticed that it said it had a 10 year warranty. So I boxed up the old one and sent it back to Metrokane, asking that they repair it. Instead they sent a brand new one. So now I have two. And my husband still doesn't use the foil cutter. Great product, great company.Customer Review: Makes Opening Wine a Cinch

This corkscrew is fantastic. If you're "upgrading" from a regular manual corkscrew, you'll never go back. It works great, making opening wine bottles very easy.
The toughest part to figure out is how to get it to release the cork, but once you realize you have to lower the cork all the way and then clamp together again, it's easy to do.
The one negative I would point out is that the corkscrew goes all the way through the cork on all the wine bottles I've tried. This means you may get cork-dust in your wine, but it has never been enough that's ever bothered me.

They need to ship muscles with this thing. I'm 6'2", 200#+, and I get a workout most of the times I've used it. Sometimes it's easier than others, and understanding the motion that's needed helps, but sometimes it doesn't. I literally have to use both hands/arms with considerable force most of the time. And God help you if you try to use it with bottles that have that little plastic top that covers the top of the cork -- I had beat on it to make it work then (instructions do warn against this, but have you ever tried to remove that little plastic cover?)Customer Review: For All Wine Lovers

It was another gift for my husband for his birthday. He only uses the Metrokane corkscrews and when he asked for it again, the only place I shop is amazon.com. I am so pleased with your products, on-line website and your prices. This is a must for any wine enthsiast! It is a great deal with both items included. You cannot find this in any store. After buying one for my brother, I had to have one for myself, and for the rest of my wine-drinking friends and family. The Mekotrane corkscrew works perfectly every time, with absolutely no little pieces of cork left over to float in your wine. The only quibble I have is with the foil cutter. It does its job, but not very well--I have several inexpensive foil cutters that do a better job than this one. But otherwise, it makes uncorking wine easy and fun.
