Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Metrokane Rabbit Corkscrew, BlackCustomer Review: no customer support Summary: 2 Stars
My Rabbit failed after about a month. It no longer engaged the retractor mechanism. I sent it back asking for a repair or replacement. A month later I wrote Metrokane asking for the status of my unit. I also have a Houdini opener. After failing to hear from them in over a month, I sent an E mail. I got no reply to that and sent yet another inquiry. Still no reply and no opener. Very bad (non existent) customer service.
Customer Review: Serving Wine is Now Much Easier! Summary: 5 Stars
Having experienced too many mishaps involving wine (either crumbling the cork or having the bottle slip out of my hands and flying through the air), I can appreciate a reliable and easy corkscrew. The Rabbit is the best of the batch. No longer is great skill or Herculean strength required in order to enjoy a good bottle of wine. Since the Rabbit works with all types of bottles, you always be ready. Highly recommended!
Customer Review: Make sure Rabbit has Metal gears Summary: 4 Stars
We recieved a rabbit 4 years ago as a gift. It has worked great for the whole time we have had it, except for the fact that the gears are made of plastic and have worn down. When the gears wore down far enough they silpped a few spots and now the it wont work anymore. If you go to the metrokane website they show the rabbit with metal gears(probably asfter having to warranty a lot of the plastic gear models).
Customer Review: So easy, anyone can do it! Summary: 5 Stars
My wife and I use wine mostly for cooking. When my wife is preparing a recipe, I am often not around and our plain corkscrew was too difficult for her to use by herself. Thus the Metrokane corkscrew... My wife can easily open a bottle on her own now. I totally agree with the tip someone gave about lubricating the screw with a drop of vegetable oil. This makes the screw enter the cork even more easily...
Customer Review: Rabbit gets sticky after four years Summary: 2 Stars
The device works well mechanically. You should know that there is a coating on it that gives it a nice matte black finish & rubbery texture that feels good to hold for about 3 years. Then at about four to five years of age it turns sticky and will leave a black gunk on your hands; not good.
I think a $45 corkscrew should last longer than four years. Buy a Screwpull or an all-metal corkscrew.
