Great product! It creates little pebbles of ice that are required for the Mint Julep, the Lime Ricky, or any other drink that needs an ice-cold temperature. The added surface area that's created from crumbled ice causes that layer of frost that appears on the outside of the glass (or silver cup).
As you turn the crank, you feel like a bartender in a 1920's speakeasy. Just keep the screw tight on the crank mechanism: Putting the parts back together isn't easy.

Entertaining is much more fun when you can offer guests frozen margaritas and daiquiris a la 1950s with this Retro Ice Crusher. Manufactured by Metrokane, which specializes in unique housewares products, this manual crusher features an all-chrome finish on top, base and handle. Crank it up and in less than 2 minutes, you'll have a quart of finely or coarsely crushed ice. You can also serve fresh seafood or other food items atop a bed of ice. Imported.This retro ice crusher with a chrome-on-metal top says cool in a 1950s kind of way. Patterned after the original Metrokane ice crushers, this attractive unit creates the right size of ice for shaken martinis, perfect margaritas, and frozen daiquiris. The ice is great for soft drinks, too. Use the ice as a bed for fresh vegetables, as well as for shrimp, crab, and lobster cocktails. Simply pop the ice in the top, close the lid, and hold it with one hand so your fingers stay clear of the handle. With your other hand, crank the handle clockwise and the ice is quickly crushed into fine bits. Turn it counter-clockwise for coarse pieces. There's no need to remember which direction to go, because the directions are embossed on the inside of the flip-top lid. The chromed base holds a quart of crushed ice.
