I saw this peeler recommended about 5 years ago, and got one. After much use and abuse, it ended up breaking when it got stuck in the dishwasher. Up till that point, it was still working as well as the day I bought it. I purchased another different one, and really missed my old one. So I bought another one that looked just like it...looks were deceiving, it wasn't the same. I finally stopped wasting my time and money, and bought this one again. Finally, I found what I was looking for. A great peeler, that requires minimum pressure to get an effective peel. I expect this one to last for a long time too!Customer Review: Works like magic

I've had a regular straight blade vegetable peeler forever, but Cook's Illustrated recommended a serrated peeler for soft/thin skinned fruit like peaches. The Messermeister straight blade peeler won the Cook's Illustrated test of regular peelers so I figured I'd give their serrated peeler a try. It works like magic for peeling peaches, even if they are ripe and very soft. I also use it to peel apples for the kids, much faster than using a knife. Awesome peeler - really works. I've never peeled kiwis so easily. Also peels tomatoes very easily. I don't use it on potatoes since simpler ones work and I want to keep it sharp, but I'm sure it would do a great job.
Removes a little more skin then a flat peeler (another reason I don't use it on potatoes), but it can peel things regular peelers can't.

My wife has used the oxo for years and with "Cook's" food magazine's positive review, I purchased this "Messermeister." It just cuts and cuts and cuts with so very little effort. The sharp blade increases your accuracy when peeling. I have had to buy one more from Amazon for my daughter.Customer Review: Works great on soft foods

Recently used this to peel abotu 20lbs of soft peaches; it worked great! The only issue was that sometimes some peel would get stuck in the peeler, and I'd have to stop and clean it out, but this can happen with any peeler. Oerall, it worked extremely well.
