My first purchase of a julienne cutter was the Titan, but I immediately discovered that I didn't like the pulling the blade toward me to do the job, and the sense that with just a small miscalculation, I could do some painful damage to my hand. I researched and found the Messermeister, and it has proven a much better choice for me.
It works well, seems solidly constructed, and its use feels very much like using a regular peeler. I prefer the rubberized handle of the Messermeister, which is much less prone to slippage than the metal handle on the Titan. It also comes with a little protective blade cover that snaps on, and allows for safe storage, safe both for the blade, and for the user. I know there is always a risk of injury when using any sharp instrument like this, and we need to always be careful with them, but I'm convinced this design is very much less likely to injure me than the Titan.
