Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Messermeister 8-1/2-Inch Take-Apart Utlility Shear

Customer Review: Cook's Illustrated is wrong on this one
Summary: 1 Stars

Two major problems with these kitchen shears: 1) they disassemble so easily that they are always falling apart even while using; 2) the cutting area is too short for effective use when taking apart whole chickens. Definitely not worth the $25. Going back to the traditional German-made kitchen shears.

Customer Review: Awesome kitchen scissors
Summary: 5 Stars

I never used to use my old kitchen scissors - would always make do with a knife - even when they were lying right there in the drawer. But these scissors are used constantly - from cutting up a chicken to cutting open a chip bag. They are simply awesome - and so easy to clean. Buy them!!

Customer Review: according to COOK'S ILLUSTRATED
Summary: 5 Stars

I just wanted to be sure that potential purchasers are aware that the hallowed experts at COOK'S rate this item as the very best take-apart shears available: in the Nov/Dec 2006 issue, they say it's "a cut above the rest." I am not affiliated with the magazine...just a loyal reader!

Customer Review: Excellent Kitchen Shear
Summary: 5 Stars

As noted before, this was rated the best by Cook's Illustrated, so I purchased it. It is an excellent shear, cutting through poultry bones, and anything else that I've used it for, quickly and smoothly. It also comes apart easily for cleaning. I can highly recommend it.

Customer Review: It does what it's supposed to do.
Summary: 3 Stars

The tool performs very well. Easy to take apart, blades are sharp and cuts are clean. That having been said, I was disappointed in the workmanship. Crude is the word I'd use to describe it. Casting imperfections were not buffed out. It just looks like a cheap tool.
