The product is advertised as a GE filter, it is not a GE filter. The filter is some generic brand made to substandard quality. I cannot speak for the actual performance since I have no way of really measuring it. The quality is just not there, pay a little more and get the real deal from another vendor.

Carbon/Sediment
pre-filter protects the membrane by pre-filtering the water entering the unit.
The carbon/sediment prefilter removes sediment and certain
chemicals, such as chlorine, from the water. Depending on water use and the
amount of impurities, this filter should be replaced every six to twelve months.
