Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Melitta Ready Set Joe Single Cup Coffee BrewerCustomer Review: Simple, elegant, and it works Summary: 5 Stars
Sometimes the simplest things are the best things ever. Nearly 30 years ago I bought a 1-cup plastic coffee filter cone that is the greatest thing for camping since boiling water. Then they went out of style. For years I've been looking in vain for a backup/replacement and nearly gave up in despair. Melitta delivers and then some! The new style lets you gauge the water level while the cup fills, which prevents spills - my biggest gripe with the old style. My gold-tone #2 filter also fits so I can eliminate paper filters at home. For better coffee extraction, slowly pour in the hot water a little bit at a time, two or three times, so the filter doesn't fill more than about half way. Voila! The best.

First I have used the "old" type filter for years and years and would not be without one which is why I bought this backup.
In a nutshell I like the old style better because it has a handle rather using the "lip" to pick it up. Compared to the "old" one this model is clumsy to handle.
The old one I referenced is the one designed like a funnel with a handle on the side.
I would have given five stars except for the above. I love my old one and like this one. I`ll keep it as a backup.
If you can`t find an old design buy this one. They are great and make a fine cup of coffee with out all the chrome and gadgetry of a full up coffeemaker.
Customer Review: So simple and smart! Summary: 5 Stars
Wow this little hunk of plastic really does a great job of making one cup of coffee. I usually get the paper coffee cups with the lids and make it at home myself and I get the big 20oz cups so I can merely adjust the amount of coffee for my insane caffeine fix. I wish however it was made of a type of metal or glass rather than plastic for I feel I am slowly on the road to growing another arm due to the hot water slowly administering plastic chemicals into my body with each delicious cup of coffee. Also let's not fail to mention that professional machines in coffee shops use metal in their filter thingys. I would pay $20 for a metal version of these.
Customer Review: Simplicity and Elegance; the secret to a great cup of coffee! Summary: 5 Stars
This product delivers a wonderful, hassle free cup of coffee each and every time. Just put a filter, 2 tbs. of your favorite coffee, and hot water into the cone, and out drips rich, bold, goodness. I have owned many coffee machines and French presses over the years, but none even compare to this product. The quality of your cup-o-joe is mainly dependent on the beans you use. This will not make Foldgers taste richer, however this brew cone does deliver a great cup of coffee without the timing (French Press), guessing, or wasting (auto drip) involved with other methods. If you enjoy drinking coffee, buy this, you won't regret it.
Customer Review: THE BEST WAY Summary: 4 Stars
I have experimented and over the years I have finally settled on one method for making coffee. First, the right bean for me is Peets French Roast Whole Bean delivered every month. I place the freshly roasted coffee into a vacuum container to seal in the freshness. Next, filtered water is boiled and allowed to cool down. Next, using an expensive burr grinder, I grind enough for one cup of coffee, generally two measures, using an old Starbucks
measuring tool. Finally, I put the powder into a new paper filter and pour water over it.
Simple, but it does take tools to make it work.
