Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Melitta MES2B One:One Single Serve Coffeemaker, BlackCustomer Review: Great Product for a Tea Lover like me Summary: 4 Stars
I do not drink coffee so the Melitta was the only pod machine I considered since it is the only one currently selling tea pods. I previously was using an electric kettle to boil water then steeping it - since I like very dark tea. I figured the One:One would help me save a step since it would heat and steep at essentially the same time. I am very pleased.
To address the concerns I have seen others raise:
*I have had not trouble with leaking from the Pods or the well. I understand if you place the pods in incorrectly it will cause leaking so be careful.
*The temperature is cooler than if you boil the water in a kettle or a microwave. So if you like your drinks scalding, this will not work for you. If you usually take the scalding cup and let it sit, then this will be fine. You'll be able to drink it right away.
Customer Review: Disappointed!! Summary: 1 Stars
I am a true coffee lover and was excited about my Melitta Coffee One One. The thought of a fresh cup of coffee whenever I wanted seened too good to be true. I have tried all the coffee blends sent along with the maker and have not had a good cup of coffee. The 5 ounce serving is a half cup of coffee and the 8 ounce is not even a full mug of weak coffee so if you want a full mug of coffee you need two pods of 5 ounce and even then it just isn't worth the trouble. I am hoping Melitta will make an adapter and some new bigger pods so that they make a bigger, bolder cup of coffee. My husband, who doesn't like strong coffee the way I do also thinks the coffee is weak. What a disappointment. One good note is that my daughters stick a tea bag in the pod holder and enjoy the tea it makes.
Customer Review: Works Like a Champ!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the "Juan Valdez" version of the Melitta (same unit with a different spout and different lever) at Target recently, and I am very impressed with it! It brews a great cup of coffee quickly, with minimal clean-up. No leakage problems either, as long as you make sure the pod is completely tucked in and does not extend up on the rim of the pod holder.
Regarding the coffee, the Melitta brand (Juan Valdez brand) is not the best; it does remind me of the taste of instant coffee. HOWEVER: I have discovered that the other brands (Folgers, Douwe-Egberts, Millstone) all work perfectly in the Melitta. You just have to cram the pod into the holder a bit more, once again so the pod does not lay on the rim of the holder. No problems, and the coffee is MUCH better.
Customer Review: Nice Job Melitta! Summary: 5 Stars
It's a real treat to have an easily home-brewed flavorful latte. Although this will never replace one created with the use of an espresso machine, either from a personal unit or from your favorite coffee emporium, it's a tasty and reasonably-priced alternative. I've had a delicious latte made using a home espresso unit, but those units are expensive and require more handling than this one-cup maker did. OK, so you can't heat the milk in this machine, but using regular milk was fine because the coffee was very hot to start. The point is that the coffee made using this one-cup maker and pre-measured pod tastes much better than that from a standard home drip coffee-maker, the unit isn't costly, clean-up's a breeze, and you don't have to put your shoes on to get it!
Customer Review: Great Little Brewer Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great Machine. No Leaks, no problems. Makes an excelent cup of coffee or tea in a flash. The only problem for me is the coffee. All coffee & tea is an individual taste, but the coffee that came with this machine was not worth drinking. I found both Folgers and Millstone to taste much better. Pods from Millstone & Folgers are actually made for the Senseo, but fit with a little persuasion.
The tea that Melitta provides gets a great for two out of three. The Black tea tastes straight from Lipton, but the other two are really good.
The biggest problem is that Most pods from other manuyfacturers are made for the Senseo, but they do fit. I am willing to try a few more flavors, but cannot recommmend any of the Melitta Coffees.
