I had a hard time finding the right emergency light for me. I wanted something that gave me the option of emitting NO light at night, but still retaining the emergency feature. This gives me that option. By setting the switch to LED, the light only comes on when it loses power or you unplug it. Then, it can be used as a flashlight. After a full charge, mine stayed on for 9 hours and I needed to go to bed so I plugged it back in. Who knows how long this thing will go on a single charge, but I was so pleased, I am back to order more!!!
You can also use the night light function, but I found it to be too bright for my use. The other con is that this thing takes up an entire outlet, so you'd do well to place it in a spot that you rarely plug anything in.
I am so pleased at how this fit the need I had, that I'm giving it 5 stars anyway. Never again will I have to hunt in the dark for the 10+ flashlights hidden around the house! As often as I lose power, this is going to come in so handy!

I have 3 of these now. All are still working great. My neighborhood loses power all the time. These lights are great because in a 2 story home, it is a major safety issue to have the house go pitch black. I have these strategically placed in outlets where they reflect off of white surfaces and create a lot more light. We've lost power twice after dark (once during an awful storm) and it has been a great comfort to see these lights come on. I'm sure I will order more for the bedrooms.

Experience the Maxxima MLN-20 LED Night Light with built in power failure emergency flashlight. This light has a built in rechargeable emergency light, which will automatically go on at the bottom of the light in the event of a power failure. This light is so smart that you can use it at any time as a Night Light, Flashlight, or Emergency Light. Should you wish to use this as a flashlight you can simply remove it from the plug and the flashlight mode will automatically turn on for you to use around the house. When finished you can plug the light back in and it will turn off the flashlight and go back to Night Light mode which will only activate the light in darkness.
