Customer Review: You get what you pay for?
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased this thermometer as a replacement for another one we had that broke. This one is worse than the last one. The remote sensor never did work and now that we've had it for a couple years, it won't give an accurate temperature. Tonight, I checked the temperature of a pork tenderloin that had been in the oven for more than the recommended amount of time (45 minutes for a 2 lb. tenderloin) and the temperature went from 140 to 103 to 123 to 149 to 119. In a matter of 10 seconds. Then the fun started, it started blinking L L L - I have no idea what it means, but it's been doing that for the past year or so.

I'm just not impressed. I'm actually on Amazon looking for a better thermometer that will last us more than 18 months.

Customer Review: Love it, just wish I could manually set the temp alarms
Summary: 5 Stars

I found the range to be very good for what it is. As long as I'm in the back yard it reads fine. Even if I go inside and stay in the living room (large patio door near by) it receives signal. If I go into the bathroom, it loses signal. There is a website showing a hack how to add a larger antenna, but for my use, it works well. I love the duel probes. I use to monitor the smoker and the other to monitor the meat. My only complaint is that I want to set an alarm at 220 for the smoker, but there is no way to do that. So I have to constantly check and once it gets up there no matter what meat I select, the alarm goes off. (Of course since the highest alarm is 170.)

Other than that very specialized situation, it's great.

Customer Review: mad
Summary: 1 Stars

This product is a bad joke. I tried for six hours to get this thermometer to work and no luck. I had read the instructions on line so i thought i would use it on some pork shoulders right out of the box. Wrong! I set it up again the next day and changed the batteries and got it to work 3 feet away for about one half hour. Thats line of sight from tx to rec. Will not work through glass window are wall. Called company several times first call on the 24th of Dec. massage said they would get back in 48 hrs. I am still waiting after two more calls still no one answers. It has been seven days. I am going to try using ET-7 as non remote probe because I will not pay shipping. Enough is enough ! I thought amazon was better than this.

Customer Review: Nearly perfect
Summary: 4 Stars

I have had no problems using this and am very pleased with the results. I have had no difficulties with the wireless function and it has worked all the way to my neighbor's house, through several walls. The only incident was completely my fault whe I had taken the probe out of a hot piece of meat, then forgot that it was hot, and grabbed on to it a few minutes later which burned my fingers slightly.
Pros: I really find the ability to manually select an exact temperature really improves the versitality of this device. It was a pleasant surprise to me when I began using it.
Cons: The beeper could be louder as I have had to be careful and keep it near me or keep my music at a normal voulume to be sure I woudl hear it.

Customer Review: Useful, but could be better.
Summary: 3 Stars

While this thermometer does do what it supposed to, generally, it could be better. The range from the probe to the remote is quite short. I couldn't use it 40' away, through one wall. The interface is not very intuitive, but it will do what you want, eventually. It is not particularly accurate either. I calibrated to boiling water, which it placed at 208 F at 3000' elevation, somewhat low. The probe is not useful on thinner cuts of meat like a T-bone as it gets heated outside the meat and gives a false high reading. It does work where you need it the most: turkeys, roasts, etc. As much as I complained, I would consider buying another if pressed due to it's low price and the fact that the short-comings are not "fatal".
