I have a 6mnth old baby and a three year old. They seem to take turns waking up at night, and to make matters worse would wake each other up since they share a wall. Out of desperation to get some sleep I ordered 2 of these and they worked right away. Now when my 3yr old is laughing/screaming during bath time, my little one (who goes to sleep much earlier) can stay asleep. Although my boys still wake up once in a while at night they don't double up on us. It's also small enough that I can hide it behind standing frames. Based on the positive reviews on Marpac Sleep Mate 980, I purchased this machine for my boyfriend as a Christmas present. I am so thankful that I tried the machine beforehand for one night before giving it to him because the noise that came out of it is so loud and irritating, that the outside and upstairs neighbor's noise I was trying to mask seemed more bearable! This machine really grated on my nerves. I had to return it! I think this machine is fine if you are used to loud noises and like really loud noises.Customer Review: If you're like me this product could be a LIFE SAVER!

I've had problems with insomnia for a number of reasons: I live in an inner city, and in an older appartment building, so there is lot's of noise. Also I'm a nurse and so I've had to work rotating shifts. Also I suffer from PTSD. This product is an important part of my recovery. I don't hear a thing when a turn this on. It's not the only thing I do to get good sleep, but it helps. If you have problems like mine this product could be a LIFE SAVER for you too. I'm not kidding. We booked a beach vacation in Pacific Beach near San Deigo, CA. We did not realize we were one block off the main street where the action went on till 3 or 4 am. With young boys we thought the vacation was lost. However the owner had these in each room. We found that we slept through a week of nights filled with late night revelry and with the police rousting drunks and lagards. Back at home, we got them for all bedrooms. Now we and our boys stay asleep all night.Customer Review: A Must Have!

I can't tell you how much this product has done for our family. We sleep so well without being disturbed by car noise or other noises outside. We used to use a fan on high in the room but was waking up in the morning with a sore throat because of the draught in the room. The Sleep Mate sounds like a cross between a fan and the ocean. It also has two settings, low and high. I would highly recommed this to anyone. I will tell all my friends and family!!
