Customer Review: Unwieldy, overlarge, ill considered

A sad and disappointing item. For me, the most annoying feature is the top lid, which swivels horizontally on stubby metal peg, but is not physically affixed to that peg. Thus, when accessing salt in the upper compartment, the lid sometimes comes off in your hand. Now you have salt in one hand, a lid in the other - it's a nuisance and, for me, a dealbreaker. I give it two stars because, well, it does contain salt, has 2 compartments, and it didn't kill anyone in my family. Still, do not buy.Customer Review: Great Item

Works perfectly, and allows you to have two types of salt in the container; doesn't always close tightly, causing a little bit of salt to spill out, but that's just part of cooking, so it's no problem at all. I definitely recommend this item. Some have said that it's too big, (about the size of a 28 oz peanut butter jar), but I find it to be the perfect size for a kitchen counter. Great item for any home cook who wants to control the salt content of a dish. Enjoy!Customer Review: gotta love it!!!

I had been looking for a salt cellar for months when I found this one online...not only is it beautiful..it works great!! I had found that it was getting difficult to see how much salt was coming out of a salt shaker but with this I can see exactaly how much salt and pepper I am using. You should use coarse salt and pepper for this as the regular salt and pepper is ground too fine. My wife was really wanting one of these for Christmas, so I searched and ordered this one from Amazon. Once it arrived, I simply wrapped it for Christmas and let her open it. Well, it turns out that the wood surrounding the hinge was broken and couldn't be fixed with wood glue. When I tried returning it I was not able to get a replacement, merely a refund. This is very large, so definitely check the dimensions before you order. Like others, mine does not line up when closed, there is a gap between the 2 bowls and its not aligned correctly so I kind of have to push it up against the wall to keep it closed. And magnets??? If there are magnets keeping this thing closed I am certainly not aware of it or they are not serving their purpose on mine.
