Customer Review: Want an ADDITIONAL PITCHER & LARGER ICE CONTAINER?????

We were entertaining and I didn't have time to whip up our usual recipe. A quick search on the net came up with what is apparently the hands down only decent ready-made mix on the market: Dr. Swami & Bone Daddy's Top Shelf Margarita Mix. After fiddling with just how much liquid to ice makes us happy, we set down to blend. WOW!!!! No doubt about it, this is one great blender. Easy to use, (EVEN after a few margaritas!)
We've now taken to using it with juices, in fact, I'm THRILLED that the teenagers are using it to brew up juice smoothies as adding all that ice cuts down on how much sugar they're consuming! We're so impressed with the unit that we're ordering another for our vacation home.
IF YOU NEED ANOTHER PITCHER OR WANT THE LARGER ICE CONTAINER: I received an upgrade from Frontgate.com. This kit gives you the larger ice container for the top ([..]) and a PLASTIC pitcher. [..] for the upgrade kit, but you still come out ahead since you'll have TWO pitchers and a backup ice container.

Well - I finally broke down and purchased this frozen drink maker - and we LOVE it. Several years ago, we rented a commercial model for a party we had at our house. It was a big hit, so I thought I'd buy one. I was shocked at the price, however - about $1000 and up. I gave up.
A few months ago, however, I saw this one and we broke down and purchased it after looking it over for way too long. Well - let me tell you, it makes very good frozen drinks. I mean very good. The drinks have a great texture (I was worried about ice chunks) and once I got the recipe down - a great tase. Still at about $250, it is expensive.
Note that this unit doesnt make ice - you add ice to the top, the unit shaves the ice and adds it into the blender. Then the blender automatically runs and blends whatever ingredients you've added into a perfectly smooth and icey blend.
So - at $250 it is expensive, but I think it is well worth it.

What a great product. This machine makes a great margarita every time. Ordered it for a 4th of July party and it arrived in just 3 days, plenty of time to practice; but it's so easy to operate, you don't need much practice. Also used it for some frozen rum drinks. (you just need to shave a little extra ice). Worked like a dream all night long. Have used it several times since for all kinds of frozen drinks (both with and without alcohol). The only problem is the physical size. It is a little big to leave out on the counter all the time, and so save the box to pack it back up once you're done. I admit I thought twice about spending that kind of money on a drink machine but once I had a margarita I was convinced it was well worth it. In fact, by the end of the night I was not longer on bartender duty as it is easy enough for anyone to operate and still get a perfect drink everytime. If you love margaritas do yourself a favor and pick one of these up.Customer Review: This thing ROCKS

We weren't huge margarita fans, but my husband decided that he wanted it and we've become margarita drinkers. We've only had it for 3 weeks but have gone through 4 bottles of tequila with our friends already, if that's any testiment to how much we love it. We've convinced a colleague to buy one and are also buying a second one as a gift for friends.
The shaved ice makes a margarita unlike any you can make with any other non-commercial appliance out there. We do add a little extra ice like some other reviewers recommend, and we found that ice made from our refrigerator's ice maker sometimes shaves a little better than store-bought bags of ice. Our daughters love non-alcholic daquiris from it too, and are forever asking for "strawberry drinks." It even works perfectly when we throw actual strawberries into the pitcher before blending.
In all, we LOVE this thing and are planning many parties around it this summer.

We had a big Labor Day bash last weekend and this machine was the hit of the party.Several of my friends have since ordered their own because they were so impressed with the quality of the frozen drinks and how fast they were made! Great virgin drinks for the kids too. Best of all, clean up was very simple and the reservoir prevents melting ice from dripping all over the counter. I do wish that they offered extra jars though,so I could be making more while I'm pouring!
I had shopped around considerably and found the Margaritaville priced the same everywhere. The advantage to buying here was the free shipping and $30. off when you use the Amazon card. I also bought the carry case which was definitely worth the cost as it is a custom fit for the machine and allows you to travel without worry.
This is a must have for your summer parties...but I will use mine all year long!
