Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Magic Bullet Express 17-Piece High-Speed Blender Mixing System

Customer Review: Food Processor On The Mount
Summary: 4 Stars

Truthfully, with so many different advertising companies pitching in different kinds of food preporational goods, it can really be quite a difficult decision on what to buy. There are just so many multi-purpose goods that really do some strange things that are just wonderful and convient for your household, and at a very well recieved price that is just too much of a good thing. Yet, there are really two different kinds of food processors that've ruled the infomercial super highway, the Ultimate Chopper, and the Magic Bullet. The Magic Bullet has definitely taken on the kitchen world by storm with a remarkable advertising campaign that is really worth the money, and the price as well.

The Magic Bullet is a remarkable multi-purpose food processor that replaces a lot of diferent kinds of devices including mixers, coffee grinders, blenders, and traditional food processors that just chop up food. This device is very convient and very well worth the effort in storage. It is very small and compact, and very easy to store anywhere on the kitchen counter. The device comes with mugs, different kinds of cups and lids, that you can store and use for any convience in the house, as well as cook in the microwave. In the infomercial, the device also comes with a bonus pack that has a blender attachment that is very safe, and a juice extractor, that makes remarkable juices from fruits and vegetables. Sadly, if you find it in some stores, the blender and juice extractor kit aren't included with the processor. Nevertheless, it really fits like a glove in the most convient household.

While some may feel the price is out of their league for purchasing the Magic Bullet, they may consider the lesser known knock-off Power Chopper for a more affordable price. Still, the Magic Bullet is a very good help for any kitchen, and is very simple to use and afford.

Customer Review: Love the Magic Bullet
Summary: 5 Stars

I live in Costa Rica from the USA. Most electronics fail in tropical climates, period. VCR before they were not cool, (3) done, DVD, 3 done, Computer (2) done. Magic Bullet have two, still have two ten years later. I use it twice daily, since we grow bananas and other fruit, I freeze them and each day use as ice, mix with soya protein mix, ground flax seeds, other grains to clean my colon, etc. but the point is -- one footprint, coffee grinder, breakfast maker and whatever else.

Don't be fooled, it is a small blender - no crap there. But it does many things like ground your coffee, make my breakfast drink (especially because frozen bananas are softer than ice and don't add water), or - for dinner, stir fry, at the last minute put corn starch with cold water (I actually think ahead and put the whole small magic bullet container part into the freezer, blade and all - because corn starch works better cold but needs mixed) and zip, add to stir fry, thicken cook off a minute and serve.

This is a small, useful blender. For example, you can make salsa by putting all the ingrediants into the bullet, mix. Then use your own hand to cut tomatoes, onions and other wishes into small chunks (I like chunky)later - use the machine for what it does best, cold mixed drinks, breakfast drinks, soup base, base -- coffee grinder, etc.

I love this machine, it has stood up to the tropics with our one, again off again, surge pulse electricity and always made me happy - I could sell these things, in fact , the only reason I'm back is because I let someone stay in my house (a friend) what we do here when we leave to visit the usa, he used the machine - and now says get me one, I'll stay for free.

enough, I was sold a long time ago - but hey, if you can't use it, you can't. If you can, you'll be so happy, rob

ps. I don't make money by selling this, nor nada. I just love this little machine, well worth the money period.

Customer Review: Product breaks easily, even w/proper care
Summary: 1 Stars

This product is not made with sufficiently sturdy materials. If you purchase it, even with much care, you are at great risk of having the plastic housing around the blades break horizontally. I read the manual, even treated this thing like a baby...much care and not overdoing anything. It was only used for SMOOTHIES, yet it broke in only one month's use...the blade housing (black plastic). So, I said, O.K., let's try the other blade and see if that will work. Nope, after only THREE uses, that one broke horizontally as well, and we are only talking about liquids, a powder mix and a banana!

I guess you can imagine that though I love this product when is works, I do not recommend buying it. My husband, the mechanical engineer, says the Magic Bullet was not properly engineered or maybe tooled to withstand the stresses for the type of plastic they used. Also, the travel cups I have do not line up with the notches on the machine properly, so that they tend to get stuck in place! I have no idea if they have corrected these problems yet or not.

If you try to contact Emson, you will have a hard time getting the information. Even looking up their phone no. on Superpages, you will not find much help. At the end of a long recording they tell you to call customer service, but DON'T GIVE YOU THE NO.! The only way I have found that you will get any sort of response is to use the email listed at the bottom of their website page. Since one person did finally email me, I am including the contact info. for you all right HERE:

Email: Nayroby@emsonusa.com (Nayroby German)
Telephone: 212-689-9094, ext. 263
Fax: 212-212-1518

FYI: Nayroby said to send the broken parts to Anthony Roman, CUSTOMER SERVICE, c/o Emson, 230 Fifth Ave. Suite 800, New York, NY 10001.

I hope this review is helpful to you all.

Best always,

Customer Review: The Magic Bullet is alright with me
Summary: 3 Stars

I was really impressed with the infomercial so after a while of thinking about it, my husband and I purchased one. Shipping was definitely a huge rip off but I felt that I could use one if it did all the things it claimed to. I was really looking forward to freshly made, vitamin packed juices since I'm pregnant. In fact, that's the first thing I tried to make. We went to the grocery store and bought all sorts of things...carrots, beets, apples, spinach, even a pineapple. What I got was bright red sludge, not juice, and it went into the trash. Oh well, I figured.
So I made fresh spaghetti sauce with basil leaves. The bullet was very effective for that. Sure beats canned sauce.
It makes very good pancakes and you can throw any sort of fruit into the batter. It only takes a few minutes so you can have pancakes on a work day rather than cereal.
It's great for chopping garlic and onions and things of that sort. It does tend to liquify them a little but that's alright with me.
I tried the hummus recipe and that's great too but I don't recommend adding a hunk of raw garlic. Too strong. Try roasting the garlic in the oven first.
It does make great chicken salad for sandwiches. Much better than using canned chicken.
I use the bullet every single morning for coffee so I do get a lot of use out of it.
I also plan on using it to make fresh baby food for my baby when he's born. So I'll in fact get a lot of use out of it.
Still kind of bummed that I can't have my vitamin packed juice. I guess that's my only real problem with the thing so far. What they don't tell you in the infomercial is that you can't run the thing for more than a minute or else the motor could go. So my question is this...how in the HELL can you get fruits and vegetables juiced in a minute???? If the thing did actually juice like it's supposed to, it would take you an hour to get a glass of juice anyway. Sucks to that!

Customer Review: Surprisingly pleased...
Summary: 5 Stars

I happened upon this product months ago in a store because my teen was on a smoothie kick. Turned out the kick wore off 5 minutes before I got home with the unit so it didn't get much use at first. I felt obligated to try a few things, it grated/ground parmesan cheese just fine except for the *really* hard rind, chopped some herbs and it chopped them extremely fine and, yes, had to be scooped out (damp items are *going* to stick to the walls of any blender). At least it was small enough to easily get everything out without a struggle.

But other than that the only thing that really pleased me was its size. I store it in a drawer because it'll get lost in any of the cabinets and digging it out would be a royal pain. Even with the *very small* amount of counter space I have leaving it on the counter isn't any more noticeable or annoying than having a cup in the corner.

However, lately (the last couple of weeks) I and the other kids have been making smoothies. Granted, I start with iced crushed via the refrigerator dispenser but I have never had a problem with unblended ice - I don't even need 10 seconds.

One of the biggest complaints I have with full-sized blenders is cavitation (the blades spinning in an empty space while the contents are untouched above/around the blades). Whether it's the power of the unit (which is more than adequate) or it's size & proportion that has not been a problem at all. You can see *all* the contents consistently being pulled down from the top center and moving up the sides.

And it's a great unit for the kids to use with just a little adult supervision - if the cup isn't on the blades, the unit can't easily be activated.

Admittedly we've done little else with the unit besides a few omelettes which came out great. And as for the recipes that came with it... well, consider the source. Luckily I didn't buy it for the recipes.
