Customer Review: A Successful Experiment
Summary: 5 Stars

As an experiment, last July I replaced the laundry detergent and fabric softener combination that I'd used for years with soap nuts. I have a front-loading Frigidaire washer and the matching dryer. I didn't tell my husband and son of the change, as it was an experiment and I wanted to see how the nuts performed and if there would be any noticeable difference.

Nine months into the experiment, I have a serious case of bronchitis and need help with my chores, including the laundry. My husband has therefore discovered my little experiment, and his only comment was, "I did notice that my jeans have been softer than they ever have been, but nothing else comes to mind. I thought you were using a new fabric softener, and I like it." Hurrah! Hurrah!

I am allergic to many commercially available detergents, and have had no issues at all with the nut-washed clothing. The towels are soft. Everything is clean. I love that the nuts themselves go into the compost pile after they are used.

Once you, too, are hooked, make sure to buy the big bag of them Maggie's Soap Nuts. (1 Kilo, 200+ Loads) 100% Natural Laundry Soap. Grows on TreesTM.. I am still using the original baggie that came with my first sample package of the nuts. It gets emptied promptly at the end of laundry day, and then hung to dry in the laundry room so it's ready for next time.

Customer Review: Never going back to detergent
Summary: 5 Stars

I love soap nuts. I've used a couple of brands, and they're all great. Maggies is nice because you get whole nuts instead of pieces. Whole nuts are easier to measure out. They all work the same though. I use them on our clothing, towels, sheets, jeans, cloth diapers, everything. It all gets sparkly clean with no residue or build up. I can get 5-6 loads in warm water before switching the nuts. Per a previous reviewer, I do not do all those loads the same day, and I've never had an issue with mold or stink. Soap nuts do have a mild smell, almost like a very light vinegar, but it doesn't leave any scent on your wash. Seriously, I tried a lot of detergents for my cloth diapers, and they all eventually gave me issues. I have been using soap nuts without issue for over a year. I will never switch back to detergent.

Customer Review: Not strong enough
Summary: 2 Stars

I ordered the product after a news special covering them that praised their cleaning ability and environmentally friendliness. However, my first load it didn't suds up very well as claimed by the news piece. The water turned more of just a gray tint. And then with the "smell" test, 3 pieces of laundry did not come out clean. And these weren't what I would consider "heavily soiled" - no stains or gym clothes, simply shirts that had been worn for the day in an office environment and had built up deoderant. Personally, I don't want to have to smell everything when I take it out of the laundry. I can't trust it, so I don't particularly care to purchase it again. So, perhaps this is good for the people that really have VERY slightly dirty clothes... or no sweat glands.

Customer Review: You gotta' love this green product.
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this product and use it for my weekly wash. There are many different things you can do with it, but I just haven't gotten around to soaking the soap nuts and using the tea from the them for different things yet. This is even easier than measuring out regular soap and fabric softener! I put 2 or 3 in my little bag and just throw it in the with the load of clothes. To scent my laundry (because the soapnuts don't have much of a scent to them), I put in a little drop or two of peppermint oil (you can choose the scent you like) in the fabric softener dispenser and turn it on. I have been using the soapnuts for a few months now and just can't find anything to complain about where they are concerned. They are perfect for my HE frontloading washer.

Customer Review: Soap Nut Convert!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to say, when I received these as a gift, I was skeptical. I thought there was no way that these tree nuts in a linen sack would do a lick of damage to all the tough stains on my toddlers clothing. However, my son's skin was getting drier by the day so I was desperate to try anything. One wash was enough to convince me. Not only did all the tough stains come out of his clothing, but his whites were gleaming and after one wash, his skin cleared up. I tried a similar liquid product and his dry skin reappeared and his clothes were left looking dingy and new oily stains appeared on his clothes. I threw away the entire bottle and immediately purchased more Maggie's Soap Nuts. This is a truly amazing product!
