Save your time and money, this product is a piece of junk. I just got this for my wife for Christmas because she wanted something a little easier than the standard waiters corkscrew, so I got her this...it broke two days ago after opening about 5 bottles.
I'm one who will usually see a few bad reviews and think maybe someone just got a defective product but this really seems to be just poorly constructed in general. Spend the extra bucks and get a decent one that will last longer than a week.

Just received the corkscrew and I am disappointed in the quality of the casting of the gears and the overall finish and feel. The gears on the handle are unevenly ground and pockmarked. The fit of the parts is loose and sloppy. Either this one should not have gotten past quality control or I should have purchased a more expense brand. I am not going to return it because of the price of shipping and, no doubt, it will pull corks for a while.

I used one of these at a friend's house, and was amazed at the simplicity of use. At this price, it was worth it, even considering some of the questionable long term reliability concerns from previous reviewers. My use is moderate, maybe 2 bottles per week, and I'm following the lubrication recommendations of one reviewer.
My only suggestion to the manufacturer would be to make a modification to the stand to include some kind of snap-in device to hold that spare corkscrew underneath.

After debating whether or not to spend more money for one of the Rabbit openers, I decided to go cheap and buy the MIU and am glad that I did. The MIU corkscrew works wonderfully. It works well on real corks AND synthetic corks. It's cheap!! It's all metal and solidly built. A reviewer for the Rabbit indicated that the Rabbit had some plastic parts. I can't believe that the MIU is so inexpensive in comparison and would urge anyone debating between the two to definitely buy the MIU!Customer Review: MIU Corkscrew didn't pull a single cork

This corkscrew didn't pull a single cork.
However the MIU Corkscrew pushed corks into the two bottles that I tried. Therefore I am calling it a "cork pusher".
Will return this to Amazon, one of my favorite sellers, and who has a sterling return policy.
I am recommending to Amazon that you discontinue this item from your offerings and return all stock to the manufacturer for a full credit. This plan will save future grief for Amazon.
