...to buy one of these? I love it. After so many years of suffering along with the can opener/corkscrew; of destroying corks and having to fish pieces out of the wine, yanking and pulling and cajolling--suddenly with this purchase--I have the answer! This devise is well made and a joy to use. One effortless motion and the cork is out. It makes you want to open up another bottle just to try it again.
This would make an ideal gift item. Anyone who enjoys the occasional bottle of wine is sure to appreciate this well designed wine opener.

After using this opener only a few times, the small threaded cap that secures the worm began to pop off. Granted, some wine corks are more stubborn than others, but with every use the cap would pop off and bounce off the ceiling. I've since bought a Metrokane Vertical Rabbit, which has proven far superior. See:

I owned the thing for about 2 years, during which it worked as advertised. Was actually very pleased with it until, all of a sudden, it stopped lifting the cork out of the bottle. Instead of lifting the cork out, the plunger just unscrewed, leaving the cork in the bottle. Examination revealed that a small plastic part had broken, rendering the product useless. A part, I might mention, that was not replaceable. What good is solid metal construction, if a small plastic part is on the critical path? So much for lifetime warranty.Customer Review: Great Service

This product BROKE beyond repair while attempting to insert the corkscrew into the FIRST cork! I am attempting to contact the seller about a replacement.
Update - The company contacted me the same day and said they would mail me a replacement product. So far, very prompt and good customer service.
Update2 - I received a UPS tracking number for my replacement the day I emailed them. Great service!
Update3 - I received the replacement opener in the mail, and it is working great!

MIU Connoisseur CorkscrewThis was actually a replacement for the same item, the original lasting only about 10 uses before it fell completely apart. The signs are that this one won't be any better. After the second use a little plastic cap came loose and fell out, so at this point I just packed it back in the box and put it away. Sadly this just reinforces my belief that if it's "made in China" it's a piece of junk.
