My knives are a crucial part of my kitchen and I want only the best for them, so I wanted to go with a magnetic strip.
Hiding your knives in a drawer is a shame, can be dangerous if they're just free floating in there, and can also dull them if they bang around with other items. Not good
Keeping knife blocks on your counter eats up counter space and is just bulky. Many times I have to guess which knife is in which slot too, and if I have knifes that don't fit in the block, or more knives...I end up with knives in the drawer or multiple blocks. Not good.
My knives are beautiful and I love having them displayed out in the open. It also makes for easy retrieval. I hung this strip up right up above where I work, so when I need to switch from my Chef's Knife to a Paring knife, I just reach up, grab the handle and there it is! Very easy, no having to fumble to open a drawer or guess which knife it is in the knife block.
Of all the magnetic strips I've seen, this one is the largest, heavy, durable, great styling, and has the best quality. My only want for it is to be bigger...although, if it were any longer, I would have a hard time finding a place to mount it, so I think just buying another one would be the way to go.
It doesn't have to just be for knives either. I have many steel items that I think would be perfect mounted on this strip. The possibilities are endless!
Bottom line, I would definitely recommend a magnetic strip as a way to store knives. I would definitely recommend this strip over the others if you care about quality and looks.

I've had this for about a year and have used it but only put it up on the wall today. In the interim, I put my knives on it and slid it into my silverware drawer -- which meant that if I was using the silverware extensively I had to slide out the bar. The strip would hold all 11 knives of all sizes.
I have top of the line Henckels knives and I take very good care of them. Most of the pieces are over 10 years old -- with some recent editions. Before I bought this Magnetic storage bar, I did some research. TO my surprise, magnets do not cause any misalignment on the knife edge.
One reviewer complained that this strip was dangerous for the knives unless you put the knife and take it off a certain way (spine firs then roll down the blade flat.) Well, that is what I have always done-- it just came naturally -- I cannot imagine how else to take it off except the very wrong way the reviewer suggested which is no easier than the proper way. There have been comments on that review.
Another reviewer said ti was too heavy for her home. Well I live in a rented apartment where the drywall is 50 years and about 1/2 inch thick. With proper installation (good anchors -- better than the ones that come with this) there is absolutely no problem -- so I have no idea what that reviewer is doing.
Anyway -- I checked out all the other strips sold here on Amazon as well as elsewhere and it is clear that MIU is by far the best -- and it is great too!!!

My Husband finally put this up in our new home.
I love it.
I thought this looked too big at first, but when I started to put up our knifes, I was VERY Happy I choose this size. It filled up fast with knifes. I Would never consiter the smaller size. Just make sure you have a place for this before ordering.
The knifes are out of the way, and out of the reach of any little kids, unless you have little kids that would pull up a chair, and grab a knife, but then again, they could just as easy open a drawer!
This is more up to date, and "so much Easier to See what knifes your grabing for", then useing the wooden blocks.
I hated haveing those two big wooden blocks to hold my knifes.
There old fashion, take up way to much room , and made my kitchen look cluttered, and I think ugly looking.
The Magnet on this was much stronger then I thought it was going to be, which is great.
This is also heavy, and I hope the screws and all that came with it hold up, or we will just have to use heavier type of screws. So far, So good.
This was easy to install, which is a big thing with my Hisband who is unhandy.
I have 9 knifes and a Kitchen Sizzers hanging on this, and still have more room, which I know will fill up fast.
Its a must have, love it and the size.

Like almost every other reviewer, I'm in love with this thing.
My boyfriend actually bought this when he was living with other people to keep his kitchen knives away from everyone else and to avoid them getting chipped or nicked as had happened to some OTHER knives that he left out to the "public." (He doesn't even COOK; he's just a knife connoisseur.)
When WE moved in together, he brought it with him, and I was loathe to have him hang it up anywhere. Since we live in such a small place, I like to have everything as "hidden" as possible, esp. in the kitchen, which is MY domain. But, he's made me into a believer -- I'm a true convert. :) It is SO convenient and handy to have my knives within reach, at arm's length, while cooking and preparing dinner. I honestly do not know how I ever functioned without this.
This is also fabulous for a tool room or garage for screwdrivers, pliers, etc. Before we added to our knives, we actually used to put OUR communal screwdriver up there WITH the cutlery, as well as one of our potato peelers.
Anyone debating whether or not to get this, wondering if it will really be that useful or make things easier for you, let me assure you that it WILL! You will NOT regret buying this; it's SUCH an ingenious idea. We love it, and I guarantee that you will, too!

I would definitely order this item again, or recommend it to a friend.
A couple of comments that might save you some grief:
1) I originally mounted it vertically, thinking I would save some wall space. The magnet wasn't strong enough to keep some of my heavier knives in the horizontal position; they would rotate until they touched the next knife down. Not an attractive way to display your knives, and potentially hazardous. So, I had to reinstall it horizontally and repair the holes in my wall. Mounted horizontally (with the knives attached vertically), it works great for me. Depending on the kind of metal that your knives are made of, it may or may not work for you mounted vertically.
2) As others have mentioned, get some heftier wall anchors than what comes with it. The puny little mounting anchors that ship with it do not inspire trust, especially if you have some heavy knives.
Neither of these comments would keep me from giving it five stars, it's good stuff. Just give careful consideration to where you're going to mount it. If your knives are like mine, they're heavy and sharp. If you have small children or frisky cats, put it somewhere that they're not likely to get to it.
Make sure that you know how to attach the holder securely, or find someone that does. You'll be happy.
