Like an idiot, I cleaned my oven and forgot to take out the thermometer I always keep in it - thus I needed a new one. I went to or called a couple of specialty stores who told me they didn't have one and my local supermarket also didn't have any so I checked Amazon and chose this one from several listed.
It sits on a shelf and seems to be very accurate.

This thermometer seems to work well and to be more accurate than the temperature control on my oven. I say "seems" since I have not validated it with another thermometer, but I have no reason to doubt it yet. Wiping off after each use has kept the glass cover clear so far.
Also, the numbers are significantly larger and easier to read than I was expecting.

We used this to calibrate our new oven and when we had a service man out to replace a faulty valve on the new stove, he also checked our oven temp with his professional digital probe. His temp readings were exactly the same as this unit, so that is a pretty good endorsement for the accuracy of this analog device.Customer Review: Good thermometer; durable.

This thermometer is helpful in determining if your oven is accurate. It's clear and easy to read. When I first used it in the oven and the oven was cooling down, it made some click/cracking noises, and I thought it broke. But it still works fine; must have just been adjusting to the cooling temps.Customer Review: Broken already!

I've used this product for 2 months (and it just sat in the oven!), the front glass fell off and it stopped working (looks like the copper element broke). I knew I should have gone with the Taylor (which is what I had for many years)...went straight to the trash...
