I purchased these in October 2007. 3 years later, they still look great, like new. No bits of plastic/nylon peeling off or anything. Do note, however, that I don't leave the spoons resting on the bottom of a hot skillet or anything while I go off and do other things in the kitchen.... if I'm not actively stirring something, I rest the spoon on a plate off to the side of the stove. Taking care of them this way has probably helped them look new all this time.
I got the red color spoons (I think MIU also makes these in blue?), thinking that if the material stains at all from tomato sauces, it wouldn't be as visible. But I don't think the material accepts stains. I make spaghetti sauce and tomato-based chili frequently and there's no color variation on the spoons to suggest staining. *thumbs up* Good quality material that they used. They're attractive, have a solid feel to them, and are all around well made. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

MIU France 2-piece red composite cooking spoons, item # 10010. A modern day update to the traditional cooking spoon. These cooking spoons are great for everyday use. The 15-inch spoon is long enough to stir deep pots of soup. They will not crack or split like traditional wooden spoons. They are heat resistant up to 430?F. They will not retain any food flavor or odor. The non-porous, smooth material makes them stain resistant and ideal for non-stick or metal cookware, since they will not scrape the delicate surfaces. Each set comes with one 12-inch and one 15-inch spoon. Each spoon has a hole on one end for hanging. These cooking spoons are dishwasher safe.Designed after traditional French wooden spoons, these two stirring spoons include a 15-inch length for plunging into deep pots of soup or stew and a 12-inch length for stirring shallower dishes. The spoons are made of food-grade high-density nylon, which is safe for use in temperatures up to 430 degrees Fahrenheit.
