Customer Review: POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

I bought this mandoline and, although it seems like a very good product, the food safety holder is only made of plastic, whereas everything else is stainless steel. I used it once only, and the holder became "scored" or cut. I had used it to test it on about four carrots (which left a stain) and one potato. I went online to customer service and asked if they had a better holder, such as one made from stainless steel, explaining that I had only used the holder once and it was cut or scored and that, at this rate, it would be torn to shreds in no time.
I didn't get a proper answer about the holder. I was told that, although they did make a stainless steel holder, part of it was also plastic and that was the part that would get scored in the same way. They did not tell me the price of it, or the model number, and left it at that.
Then they asked me about how the holder could have got scored, telling me that it could have only done so if it had got into contact with the blades. I told them that all I knew is that I had only used it once and the holder was cut or marked. From the way the conversation proceeded, they appeared to imply that it was not possible, yet they had just said that the holder could get scored in contact with the blades. Therefore, I was definitely left feeling that they are calling me a liar.
I don't think it is very smart customer service. (a) they could have SOLD me a new stainless steel holder. I hadn't asked them to give me anything! I only expected a proper answer to my question about the stainless steel holder and I had also told them about the problem, and expected an explanation (b) their representative was arguing about what I was telling him/her, denying that it could be true yet, in the same breath, telling me that it can only happen if it has been in contact with the blades and they were happily spending hundreds of dollars of their time online arguing about it instead of just sending me a new holder which probably costs them less than 50 cents, or telling me that I would have to buy a new one and giving me the price of it and the stainless steel one.
That's what I would have done myself, although I never asked them to send me anything and, as I say, I would have bought a new holder. I wonder how these companies choose their customer service representatives. They certainly cannot see the bigger picture.
I was quite disgusted with their customer service over this simple matter and wonder what will happen if I have more serious issues with the mandoline in the future. So far, the issue has not been resolved. I don't like being cross-examined over such a small thing and being told that what I say is not possible, when I have the evidence in my hand. It really is as good as calling me a liar. Several e-mails were exchanged, and by now I am angry because no progress has been made.
Their customer service has much to be desired. The product is made in China, by the way, despite the "French" name. Hence, I would like to reiterate that the holder itself must have cost less than 50 cents but it has cost hundreds in employee time and my time arguing about whether I am telling the truth or not. Stainless steel should not get stained orange with carrot juice.
