Customer Review: Not as good as it should be

The fit and finish of this Chinese-made strainer are good, and the single layer of stainless mesh is fine and evenly woven. The handle is spot welded to the sheet metal frame. The tool would have been stronger if the handle wire went all around the frame, the way our old strainers are made. It seems absurd to say of such a simple tool that "they don't make 'em like they used to", but it's true.

MIU France 6-inch mesh strainer, item # 3049. Polished stainless steel rim with a mesh basket and wire handle. No kitchen should be without one. This highly useful kitchen tool is great for a variety of functions. Drain freshly steamed or washed vegetables, sift flour and other baking ingredients, strain soup stock or gravy, and removes leaves from tea. Wire loop at the opposite side of the handle secures the placement over bowls and pots. Top shelf dishwasher safe. Can be hanged on a hook or pot rack.Colanders & Strainers
