Customer Review: Kind of lightweight

After about 20 years, I broke my old oven thermometer. It was accurate, big, steel, waterproof and had thick glass. Since then I've been searching for a quality replacement. I tried (and killed) two instant read thermometers - one analog melted the plastic and a digital that couldn't take 5 seconds in my grill. I bought in-oven thermometers from Kitchen Aid (the worst ever) and BB&B. They're all cheaply made -- including this one. I give up! I'm going to my local restaurant supply store to buy a good thermometer and ditching all these cheaply made overpriced pieces of junk.
How can you cook well without quality tools? Quality doesn't have to be expensive for example Lodge 12" Pre-Seasoned Skillet is a great bargain.
