Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of MIU France 7-Piece Stainless Steel Measuring Cup SetCustomer Review: This is a great measuring set - even after 2 years of constant use! Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this set now for about 2 years. My husband bought them for me after seeing how much I hated the white plastic ones I've had for years.
My favorite things about the set:
1.) the odd sizes. I've never had a 2/3c or a 3/4c measure before and I won't go back!
2.) they feel well balanced and well made
3.) they are absolutely beautiful
4.) the sizes are etched in so they will not rub off
Things that are not perfect about the set:
1.) to keep them beautiful I hand wash them
2.) they are wider than deep. I personally prefer this, except when holding the 1c measure over the flour canister in an attempt to level it off without spilling on the counter. Deeper 1c measures would be a little easier, but this is really minor.
I don't have the same problems as other reviews - not a single handle has broken off (and I'm a klutz - anything that can be dropped, will be dropped), the cups do not bend out of shape with pressure, and nothing sticks to the brushed finish inside. Rather, the ingredients come out cleaner than my old smooth plastic cups. Perhaps the issues result from use in the dishwasher, which again, I never use for these.
I'm really considering buying a second set since I bake a lot and it is nice to have two - but with the extra odd size measures, I don't find myself reusing much but the 1c often.
Happy baking!
Customer Review: These are nice, but not all balance when empty. Summary: 4 Stars
I really like this set. Long handles...yes the cups are more wide than deep (trying to get used to that)...and they are heavyweight, stainless steel...but
- I find dry foods kind of "stick" to these weird "ridges" on the inside / no one has mentioned that and I have to take special care to wipe them out afterward - more so than with smooth stainless/they are not smooth on the inside/bottom. That's as good as I can explain it.
- The larger cups balance on their own when empty without their handles tipping/touching - back to the counter but the others do not. This may not be a big deal to you - but I thought there would be that consistency there meaning when empty all the handles would stay elevated off the counter, not all of them do...and I get annoyed with some tipping back on their handles when empty...is that just me? I have to stack them all into the 1 cup to keep them from doing that...but they do stack nicely.
I like the sizes...this really is the best set for sizes. If you can afford this set - get it. It is a once in a lifetime buy - these will last a lifetime...
I also like how the markings are clearly engraved into the handles and I like how the handles are straightback level with each cup and long.
Thanks for reading.
Customer Review: We love these measuring cups, mostly! Summary: 5 Stars
My wife and I both grew up with Tupperware measuring spoons and cups, and I can definitely say that I prefer these 100% over both Tupperware and Oxo's Good Grips measuring cups and spoons. They're pricey compared to what you can get at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, but I say they are definitely worth it for their construction, style, and functionality.
The two cons that we have discovered is that the handle where it attaches to the cup is slightly lower, meaning that when you measure flower or sugar, you have to start scraping already on the rim of the cup instead of the handle - if you start there, your straight-edge will get stuck where the handle and cup meet. The other drawback (that I can suggest how to fix) is that while the cups nestle fine in our drawer, the two smallest cups won't stay stacked properly, the handle is actually heavier than the cup and causes it to pivot on the edge of the measuring cup underneath it. A small annoyance, but it does occasionally get caught when we close or open the drawer.
Customer Review: large set, good quality Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great set at a great price when I bought it ($19). It is sturdy. the handles have a 3 point rivit. I love all of the sizes-which is why i bought this particular set. You can't find stainless steel at a cheaper price for this many pieces. You will have to make sure that you wash between the handle and the cup as food can get stuck in the little groove. the dishwasher can easily take care of this.
These are wider and shallower than my tupperware measuring cups, but you can get used to it. i've never had a stainless steel set before so i don't know if this is the way they are made in general or if it is unique to this brand.
it is also true that the smallest two cups don't sit on your counter flat. the handle is the same length as all of the other cups, therefore, the weight makes them tip so that the handle touches the counter. It doesn't bother me because.

Customer Review: A kitchen tool that measures up!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a good quality set of measuring cups, good weight and feel, not flimsy at all. At first I thought the handles were a bit long-- until I had to scoop sugar out of a canister, or measure and pack brown sugar in a cup all in one move-- then the handle length made sense! I was unaccustomed to having 1/8 and 2/3 and 3/4 measures-- so I had to remember to use them-- rather than filling the 1/4 measure half full, or using the 1/3 measure twice, or using 1/4 three times to makes 3/4. I've washed them up by hand rather than in the dishwasher. Also, when the cups are all stacked up, the handles stick up a bit, which is only an issue if you have them in a shallow drawer. The solution is to use a small black binder clip to hold the handles all together. If you don't have a shallow drawer, or a tight space, this won't matter to you. I'd by these as a gift in a nanosecond-- this set of cups definitely measures up!
