Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of MIU Flexible Cutting Board, Set of 5

Customer Review: Good value for the price
Summary: 5 Stars

I wanted to wait until I had used these for awhile before reviewing them, based on the other reviews I had read. After more than 7 months I still like these as much as I did the day I got them. Our household sees less cooking than most..only a few days per week. We also do not use a dishwasher, but these are easy enough to hand wash. They live on the counter, between appliances and are out of the way, yet easy to grab. As another reviewer mentioned, I also use them to freeze items individually before packaging them up. I especially love that one board is designated for onion/garlic so that other foods do not pick up the aromas. Flexibility depends on what you were expecting. I can (using two hands) roll it up enough to put what I have chopped into the pan, but not into a funnel shape.

Bottom line - I am happy with these and will be buying more when these need replacing.

Customer Review: Those Colored Mats
Summary: 3 Stars

Easy to clean. Very Flexible. Green for veggies, red for meat, blue for fish, You make the designation. Lessens cross contamination of foods. How ever I use this in concert with a wood cutting board for more heft.
These mats do not stand up to the ruff stuff. You will leave cut marks on the mat. How ever I don't think they are designed to last. But they keep my wood board clean and I can just fold my chopped items in the mat and transfer it to my pots and bowls. Very Convenient. Plus if you have lots of helpers there is enough to go around. Nice for picnics too. Please keep in mind these are plastic not silicone! And yes when these wear out I will buy them again. These are far easier to wash and sanitize than that heavy cutting board. They keep my very nice wood cutting board looking very nice.

Customer Review: Flexible, sort of
Summary: 2 Stars

I thought these would be much more flexible than they are. We do use them regularly, but they are not nearly so pliable as just picking up and easily curling them to create a funnel for your food. They have a tendancy to snap back, and I wouldn't dare store them rubber-banded up as they would never go flat again. Indeed, our biggest complaint with these is that they just require too much effort to bend one way or another - be it rolled up for moving items to the pan or flat on the counter for chopping.
And don't even think about putting them in the dishwasher, even on the gentle cycle, regardless of what the description says! They get even more brittle in the dishwasher and lose what little flexibility they have.
At the end of the day, I wouldn't buy them again.

Customer Review: Great Product, Excellent Price
Summary: 5 Stars

For the price these cannot be beat. I use these types of "cutting boards" to protect my nice wooden cutting board from bacteria when preparing meats. I have used several brands and they are all pretty similar, none of them last a long time. I wouldn't honestly recomend them for use on a countertop without something else underneath them.

All of this type of cutting board will curl with use, even more if you put them in the dishwasher. Some more than others though. If you buy the $10 version you might get better results, but when you consider you get 3 of these for $5, its hardly worth buying the more expensive version. Especially when you consider that even the best ones are only going to last a short while with regular use.

Customer Review: Great, but think of them as disposable
Summary: 4 Stars

I use one of these on top of a heavy synthetic or wooden cutting board when I wanted to avoid cross contamination when working with the likes of raw meats or seafood. I order two or three sets of these at a time, and with heavy use, I find they last about six months or so. A regular home cook could probably keep them for a year or more with frequent use.

They really can't go into a dishwasher; instead fill your sink with warm, soapy water and a small dash of bleach. These do not last over the long term, and very sharp knives will cut through them eventually. They're way too thin to use on a countertop, if you ask me. However, they're very useful for using atop another cutting board to keep it clean/free of bacteria.
