Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of MAC MTH-80 8" Chef's Knife w/ DimplesCustomer Review: Simply outstanding! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a professional cook, and I really love this knife. It's insanely sharp and has a great action to it- it's very nimble and fast. Like most Japanese knives it has a somewhat delicate edge and needs to be handled with some care- although it's a strong knife, you can't really treat it like a traditional European chef's knife. I used mine to the exclusion of all my other knives until I got the MAC santoku, which is even more of a joy to handle. These are just amazing knives, and I cannot imagine anyone not being very happy with one. I have owned and used many, many knives over the years and these are the best.
Customer Review: Excellent Knife! Summary: 5 Stars
I am an avid home cook and debated between getting a MAC knife or a Global knife. The MAC knife won out because of its universal handle shape. I am so happy with it. The knife is amazing and makes home cooking a breeze. It glides so smoothly through everything I have used it on and has continued to stay extremely sharp long after leaving the box. The shape of the handle and weight of the knife make it universally comfortable. You will not be disappointed with your MAC knife!!!
Customer Review: An amazing knife Summary: 5 Stars
This is quite simply the most amazing knife I've ever used. I've never had anything cut as well or as easily. Its like Excalibur, but one anyone can own. Compared to the others in its price category e.g. Henckels, Wustoff, Chef's Choice, (all of which I own) there is no comparison. Glides through fibrous mangos truly like butter. Its thin so it has to be treated well, and watch your fingers. But for cutting through soft and semi-soft foods, I'll never use anything else.
Customer Review: Shogun knife Summary: 5 Stars
I'm embarrassed to say I ever had any Henkle or Wusthof knives because when I first used this it blew all the other knives away. Don't spend senseless amount of money on any sets; all you need is either and 8" chef's (aka cook's) knife, a paring knife, and a euro knife. You don't need a 4", 5", 6" cook's knives; you need a bread knife but you can use one from target that costs $5. Trust me, this is my father's very good advice (he's been a culinary chef for 40 years).
Customer Review: Buy this knife Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned this knife for four years and I could not be happier. It keeps its edge extremely well and rarely needs sharpening. I am rather petite and it is weighted perfectly for me, but my fiance and brother both love it as well. Even though I have several other knives, I use my MAC for everything, including detailed jobs usually reserved for a paring or boning knife.
