Customer Review: Initially unpleasant

I received this perfume as a gift and was very excited to try it since Oprah had given it her seal of approval. Unfortunately, it smells like a depillatory when initially applied. After an hour or so, it settles and becomes pleasant. I layer it with the body lotion which is quite good as a moisturizer but, just like the perfume, it has a strong cloying, harsh, chemical smell when I first put it on. Also, I don't know if this matters or not, but I have never gotten a compliment on it.
