I bought this pan after days of research....I am totally happy with it. I use it for making Indian Koftas, little veggies dumplings that are usually deep fried. I only put a dab of oil in each pocket and the koftas cook perfectly into little golden balls! I know the pan is preseasoned but I still use a dab of oil....easy to clean, nothing sticks on it....The handle does get hot also, but this does not really bother me as you don't need to hold the handle to flip the koftas... also it is very heavy, just as a side point. One good tip I got from the internet is to use 2 wooden skewers to 1/4 flip whatever you are making, to get uniform balls, rather than trying to flip them, and it works great.Customer Review: Hated it. The puffs were hard to turn over. I sprayed the pan with Pam liberally and the pan is supposedly pre-seasoned. Still, the puffs were VERY hard to turn over and then they started to burn. The wells were too deep making it hard to get to the bottom to try to turn them!!
I tried my daughter's "Pankcake Puff" pan a week beforehand and had NONE of these issues but that pan had bad reviews and I had already ordered this one. Maybe it's just that I don't know how to cook on cast iron but this pan was horrible. I really wanted to like it. I'm going to order the As Seen on TV competitor. At least I have already tried it and had no issues; the puffs turned out perfect on that one.

I recently purchased this for my wife to along with "Ebelskivers" by Kevin Crafts. I warned her that after reading many reviews for this pan, that it might take several attempts before she gets it right. She whipped up a derivative of one of Mr. Crafts's recipes and had a problem with 2 of the first 7 Aebelskivers, but every batch after that came out flawlessly. She did nothing to the pan really but season with some butter before filling the holes. She used kebab skewers to turn the aebleskivers and they work great. This pan heats well (I have a gas range) and produces great results. It did help to leave the donuts in the pan a little longer than you would think and they released great.Customer Review: Alternative to pancake puffs

My 10 year old son saw a commercial on TV for "pancake puffs" and asked if I could make them. After doing some research, I found out the pancake puffs are amercanized versions of danish aebleskivers. I bought this pan to try them out. The pan worked beautifully. I used bisquick mix for the batter and butter in the pan. After a few tries, I found the right combination of heat, butter and batter and the aebleskivers were delicious. The pan is heavy cast iron and seasoned quickly. Directions are included for seasoning the pan with oil. I'm sure the pan will only cook better with time, but it was pretty close to perfect on our first use.Customer Review: Makes abelskivers easy!!

I saw a special on abelskivers on Food Network and knew had to try them out for my 5 children. After checking reviews I decided on this one and am extremely happy with my purchase. It is heavy cast iron and really is pre-seasoned, not to say that it is non-stick, but at least I've got a headstart on getting it there. I also purchased the Tovolo 80-4784 Pancake Pen 3-Cup Batter Dispenser at the same time and highly recommend buying one (or two!) along with this pan, makes it much easier to keep your kitchen clean while making your abelskivers!
