This is something that you can live without... but it is a nice extra if you are looking to make dutch oven outdoor cooking more enjoyable.
This stand is a nice size and folds nicely to tuck in with your camp cooking tools, and works well.
While this lid rest is a good tool, let me tell you of a GREAT one:
My favorite Dutch Oven tool is the MAIR Dutch oven lid lifter. I haven't seen it on Amazon.com but you can search online for it. It grips the lid by the loop and gives you complete control without getting ashes in your pot while checking it. You can also use it to turn the lid over to remove the ashes when ready to serve. Has an extra hook on the end to aid in lifting the Dutch oven by its bail.

Much smaller than I thought it would be. It folds semi-flat. The rivet was tight when new but now is quite loose. Previous reviewers mentioned that the rivet had broken after some use. To avoid that I'll probably knock the rivet out and put a good bolt in it so I can set the tension. Large lids sit on it ok but smaller lids will slide off center and settle to one side causing the legs to change position. As with many products of China, alignment is off and it rocks on flat surfaces. It does what it is supposed to, but would have been a better deal at half the price. I'll use rocks if I need more than one.
UPDATE; did the fix I was thinking of and now I couldn't be happier. See my photo for suggestion.

These stands are of great quality. I have purchased one for every dutch oven I have. I have used them as a stand to cook on an upside down lid. I have also used this inside my dutch oven to cook biscuits. I place it in the bottom and place a pan on top to allow for even heat and air circulation in the oven. All of my dutch ovens are deep and there is plenty of room to use this inside with a pan. It is also nice to have a sturdy place to put your lid. . .no more dirt on the lid. . .no more burnt tables. Worth every penny!Customer Review: A handy dutch oven and camping tool.

We got this and use it EVERY time we cook outdoors. When we went camping, we put our big water pot on it to boil with the briquettes underneath.
You can also put a pot on it, with the handle side up. This allows us to set a hot lid somewhere while stirring or frying in the oven, and keep the lid clean.
Con: I had hoped to put a lid on it upside down for frying bacon and such, but the handle on the lid prevented that. I'd have to have two of these to fry with the dutch oven lid.

This is a good stand and folds up small. It also allows for cooking on the lid which is nice, although I haven't personally tried doing this yet. My main complaint about this stand, however, is that it's made in China so I worry somewhat about the quality of this product over time. I was hoping to stick with the Lodge brand since their cookware is made in the USA, but they have apparently not placed as much focus on their accessories.
