Customer Review: Great Idea but Not a Good Fit For Old Skillet

I bought this for my old cast iron skillet that I inherited from my grandmother. It fits a little loose so I have to be careful when trying to pour or slide anything out of the pan because the "mitt" will twist around it. I have to hold it VERY tightly. I don't own any Lodge Logic skillets, so it may fit those better but for old skillets it works better than a regular pot holder, just be careful.Customer Review: Good - But Can Scorch Easily

Fits nicely, insulates well. But, as reported by others here, it can scorch very easily. I didn't leave it on the pan when cooking, either. I'm still not sure if it started smoking because of the heat coming from the gas flame (using a small 9" cast iron skillet) or if it made contact with the side of the pan. Regardless, just be careful. Very pleased with it, now that I know its limitations!Customer Review: Will use only until I find something better

It does keep you from burning your hand but the quality of the product leaves a lot to be desired. The first time I used it was on a 12" Lodge fry pan. The heat from the fry pan (cooking my burgers on high gas flame) melted the edge of the mitt (see my pic of damaged mitt above). Still usable but not good quality at all. I expected much better from Lodge, especially for the price of this item!!Customer Review: Not so great at protecting hand for more than a few seconds.

If you're using the Lodge skillet as a serving piece, the cover works well to prevent a dinner guest from grabbing the hot handle and burning themselves. If you're planning on using the cover as a pot holder to protect your hand from heat while you're serving, you better server really fast. After a few seconds, the heat transfers through the mitt, and it's painful to keep holding on.Customer Review: Very cute...like an oven mitt for kittens [UPDATE]

This thing is very small. The picture kind of threw me off. It looked like it was going to work nicely, but my wife threw it out by accident before I got a chance to use it. Would probably have prevented me from grabbing the handle with my bare hand this past weekend. Thanks a lot honey.
UPDATE - I found it and have used it several times - works great. recommended.
