Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Lodge Logic L9OG3 Pre-Seasoned 10-1/2-Inch Round Griddle

Customer Review: Not for induction
Summary: 1 Stars

My induction cooktop works very well but its element doesn't cover 100% of the burner area, it's a donut shape that covers about half of it. I think most induction cooktops work this way.

Folks say Lodge pans are generally good heat conductor, but when I received the item I was skeptical. The bottom is mighty thin.

So I tried, but it was a disaster. The middle is very hot, the outside is very cool, it's essentially impossible to use. I preheated for a long time, that didn't help.

If you have a really even gas or radiant range, then probably this item would work for you, but not with an induction range.

Customer Review: Inch Round Riddle
Summary: 4 Stars

I took this with me on my winter hiking in Norway, with my then pet dog, Furmout (don't ask what happened to him when I ran out of food).

I hiked with all my gear, so it was heavy, but I did manage to construct a sled with felled trees and pulled everything. The cast-iron griddle pan is the best thing you can use when living on the land. It heats up with an open flame and gets warm so you can cook fish, eggs, deer meats, etc. It's a great tool. I even dried my socks on it and used it on cold nights to sleep atop. Since it's cast-iron, I had no qualms about tossing it into a serene lake when I was done with my winter hike.

Customer Review: Now I can make pancakes!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm a lousy cook and I love pancakes. I've always had to go to a restaurant to get a decent pankcake because I never figured out how to make them right.

But when I got this Griddle I started turning out perfect pancakes every time! There must be something about iron. I've never had any iron cookware before. And the size is just small enough so it's not too heavy, but the flatness allows me to make a "short stack" of pancakes all at once.

This is the most joy that $12.00 has brough into my life in a long time. And, I'll save a ton of money over the rest of my life not going to restaurants to get pancakes!!

Customer Review: Great Griddle
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this Lodge Logic griddle. This is my first cast iron purchase and it is a good buy. I love buckwheat pancakes but can seldom find them in most eateries. Now I can easily and perfectly make delicious, healthy buckwheat pancakes at home several times a week. The griddle is heavy---which I like---and holds the heat for a long time. This allows me to work on other breakfast fare while the griddle keeps the pancakes warm. It is also the perfect size if you are not feeding an army; you can do up to 3 large or 5 to 6 small pancakes at the same time. I have not tried it for other foods yet, but I highly recommend it for pancake lovers.

Customer Review: Excellant for Pizza etc.
Summary: 5 Stars

This is great for baking it just takes some getting used to. Cookies and turnovers get over cooked unless turned.

As for the reviewers who complain about the handle getting hot. Just buy the lodge signature series with stainless handles (it only costs 5 to 10x as much) or buy a good oven mitt or two.

Obviously several of the reviewers are illiterate as they didn't read the care instructions. But to be fair Lodge doesn't say that you really need to boil water in the pan and then wpie with oil and heat before using. The pre-seasoning only shortens the seasoning process, it DOES NOT REPLACE SEASONING!
