I love cooking with cast iron. This pan is great for making those 3 egg omlets, pancakes, fried eggs, etc. The low lip makes it easy to get the spatula under the eggs and flip them. On the down side if you fry bacon or sausages in it, the grease will spatter the stove. On a campfire that of course won't be a problem.However if you have limited space in your kitchen cabinet get the combo cooker. The lid is nearly as large as this one and you get the fry pan as well.
On the plus side, this pan being thin fits right under the stack of cast iron pans I already own. So if you cook for a large family and want to serve everyone faster, this is a good way to go as an additional pan.

Have recently experienced a bout of Teflon-flu and are going back to using only cast iron. This pan has become one of our best finds! As one reviewer stated use a cloth vs. paper towel to season as otherwise you'll fight to get rid of little pieces of the paper towel on the griddle. We found it perfect to use not only for pancakes, eggs, grilled cheese sandwiches and the usual, but now have two to make pizzas as we're gluten-free and wanted a crispy pizza crust -- cast iron works GREAT! With the pan well oiled and a sprinkle of cornmeal it makes a fab GF pizza crust! The large 15" skilled we've used to make a deep dish pizza that was great also. Before buying this item, I read one of the reviews. The person mentioned that this was great for making rotis (indian bread). I had never used cast iron cookware before, and was looking for an alternative to non-stick pans.
This is great for rotis. I make aloo parota (indian bread stuffed with potates) and also traditional south indian rotis (from rice flour) on these. this is as good as getting a tavva from india. It took me a few tries to figure out the heat and handling, but now it is very easy ! One has to be disciplined and keep it clean as per the instructions.
I would definitely recommend this over the non-stick pans for indian cooking.

How did I ever live with out this thing? I use it for most every dry-cooking task. My fave: flour tortilia pizza-dilia. Always on hand in my house: Flour Tortilias, jarred tomato pasta sauce and cheese...plus anything in the fridge. Olives, peppers, sausage, turkey pepperoni, frozen spinach, you name it. Preheat griddle, throw tortilia on, spread sauce on top then cheese and any thing else. I pre-cook onions and bell peppers in microwave to soften (i use to saute, but we're talking desperation dinner here) I run it under the broiler to brown off and voila! PIZZA-DILIA! Above all, it's quick and I'm pretty sure it's better for you and know it's quicker than delivery.Customer Review: Awsome!

This is the best griddle ever! I use it for a pizza pan and the crust is allways perfect, and if you leave it in the pan, it stays warm until its all gone!
I also have the Lodgic bbq and nothing comes close to the quality and design of the products Ive purchased thus far from this company. Its also a cheap, non toxic, way to cook and the iron is free! I have a $100 skillet from Switzerland and it is a very nice product, but its Teflon and its basically toxic.
Iron is not. Plus its American made! ... what.. something not from China?
Thats right, and not only that, but its a Great American pruduct. Something we should support!
