Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Lodge Logic L9OG3 Pre-Seasoned 10-1/2-Inch Round GriddleCustomer Review: Terrific Griddle!! Summary: 5 Stars
I opted for this one in place of the 8-10 fajita pan because with a round one I can use it for more things. The first thing I made on this was a 2 egg omlet that turned out perfectly. However, as this pan has shallow sides, I'll still stick to my skillet from now on for eggs (I recommend the lodge logic 15-1/4, or the 12inch). I've also done grilled cheese sandwiches and quesadilla's on it and they've all turned out way better on this pan than on my 12X12 Calphalon Commercial griddle, which was far more expensive. Also, because cast iron retains heat so well, this is great for keeping food warm for hours. One last thing, if your just getting into cast iron, it's well worth the extra money to get preseasoned pans. All in all, a great pan at a great price. Can't wait to do more with it!
Customer Review: Trusty Summary: 4 Stars
I use this daily for frying rotis and making dosas(once in a while). The pan is heavy. Its gets rusty very easily. But it works amazingly well.I made pancakes on it twice and they turned out good. I use it mostly for Indian cooking and the flavor of food is very similar to what we get back in India.I have been using it since 2 yrs almost everyday. It doesn't need a lot of cleaning if you are just using it for rotis and chapathis n tortillas. If you use oil, it definitely needs a clean up.I just put it in the dishwasher after scrapping of food stuck to its surface with a scrub.Don't leave it the dishwasher for too long or else it will rust.It could definitely do with a longer handle. The handle becomes hot(same as the surface temperature)I am planning to buy one more of this.
Customer Review: Perfect omelets, lovely pancakes... Summary: 5 Stars
...and pretty much anything else you want to cook. This baby has enough lip to contain your batter, but little enough to make flipping whatever you're cooking easy. It is a decently heavy pan, and it works perfectly with my gas stove. This pan makes fabulous omelets and plate sized pancakes.
Cast iron is great because it spreads the heat consistently. You just need to be sure to season it, and to keep it from oxidizing (so limit soaking time). After I re-seasoned mine with oil and heat, clean-up became a cinch! The handle gets hot, but that's why they make potholders...
I definitely recommend this for anyone who needs a griddle that fits over one burner and makes one large item at a time. Bonus: it is very affordable, given its quality.
Customer Review: As good as my dad's griddle! Summary: 5 Stars
I've known for a long time that the secret to good pancakes is a metal spatula, so that means no teflon non-stick for me. When I was a kid my dad got a two burner cast-iron griddle for Saturday morning pancakes (the one meal he cooked and mom didn't). It always worked like a dream, and I have wanted one for a long time. Alas, we have a glass top stove, and I was unable to find a two burner cast iron griddle with the necessary flat bottom. I was overjoyed to find this large round griddle pan that fits my largest burners perfectly. If you follow the directions included with the pan for maintaining seasoning you can do a whole batch of pancakes for four hungry people with just one spray of oil. (I use a canola oil in a Misto.)
Customer Review: Great for making indian breads. Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this griddle basically for making chapattis or indian breads. And it works just great. Prior to this we used multiple non-stick tawas for it and each came with its own problems. Some were too thin, the others started peeling off and after a lot of research, we decided to give this a try. Most non-stick cookware come with the instructions that it is safe when used under 500 degrees and the use of oil, which is common in Indian cooking, will certainly raise the temperature above it. Cast iron when maintained properly will last a life time. Keep it away from detergents and wipe it quickly after you wash it and you are good to go.
I plan to buy another one for making Indian pancakes (dosas) soon.
