Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Lodge Logic L8SK3 10-1/4-Inch Pre-Seasoned SkilletCustomer Review: Great product-Need to educate buyer on how to size Summary: 5 Stars
When my cousin opened this gift at Christmas we immediately realised it was NOT the size I thought I had ordered. She had admired a large iron skillet of mine for years so I decided to give one to her for a gift. I looked on the underside of MY skillet and it said 10and1/4 so that what I ordered for her. The skillet that came was actually only 7 or so inches across the bottom but was about 10 inches side to side on top.
I immediately realized that all skillets (mine is NOT Lodge Logic) are measured in the same way. Mine was accurate across the bottom so I thought Lodge Logic would be also - but they measure the TOP opening as 10 and 1/4 inches, not the bottom. Unfortunately - that meant my cousin had to make a trip to the Lodge Logic store in her city and exchange the skillet - but she LOVED the gift.
Lodge Logic is, without a doubt, a superior product!
Customer Review: The Best Summary: 5 Stars
I have three of these skillets: 8", 10" and 12". They are absolutely wonderful! I know Lodge recommends no soap, but I use mild soap, anyway. I dry them after washing and when necessary, lightly coat with canola oil from a spray can.
I can do anything in my cast iron pans--including flipping an omelet!
Nothing beats cast iron for its superior cooking surface. I like to cook at very high temperatures at times, either to sear meat or to caramelize vegetables and nothing handles the heat like cast iron.
Be warned, however--this is a heavy pan. I usually scoop food out and place onto a dish. I use two potholders to carry it with both hands to the sink. It's worth the effort.

Customer Review: My first cast iron piece, and it's a winner! Summary: 5 Stars
I was a little concerned, after reading some of the reviews about having to re-season these pieces, but not to worry. Like one of the other reviewers, I initially tried it out with eggs, right after receiving it...definitely stuck to the pan. I started to cook all my greasy food in this pan, and after about a month, it improved significantly! Today, I fried eggs with only a little cooking oil (same conditions as with my teflon frying pan), and to my surprise, the eggs didn't stick! My husband actually asked me to fry another one for him! I'm VERY happy I bought this, and will continue to use this for a long time. Cleaning is actually not so bad, I scrub it out under hot water, then put it back on the stove, heat it to dry, then coat with oil. Thanks to all the reviewers and their input, which helped me to decide to go cast iron!
Customer Review: Great pan Summary: 5 Stars
This is a no frills Cast Iron Pan. This preseasoned pan is nearly as non stick as a nonstick teflon coated pan. It is nice and heavy so it heats up to high temperatures evenly and is great for searing steaks. It is small enough to use on a regular sized stove top without getting in the way of other pans, but big enough to make large pancakes on. It is real easy to clean, we usually just scrub it out with a steel sponge, but if something is burned in it you can boil it loose. After cleaning we lightly coat it w/ oil while it is still warm and then the pan does not need much if any oil when you cook. This pan is really tough and will probably last forever, no coating to get damaged.
And maybe it is just me, but I think my food tastes better than from a steel or non stick pans we have had in the past.
Customer Review: Great pans; great value; a basic for every kitchen Summary: 5 Stars
These pans are solid and nice depth. I use mine daily instead of non-stick pans - you can blast the heat and not worry about chemicals or ruining the pans, or you can turn the heat down and put a lid on and let things simmer. The price is unbeatable. They are a little heavy for an elderly person -- my mother is 86 and couldn't lift even the smaller one, but for me it's no problem. Once they get good and oiled, they're almost non-stick. After use, I immediately fill with hot water while I eat, and then after dinner I use a scrubber to wash them out, and a paper towel (or put them on the burner) to dry them well. No soap, and the cleanup is easy. It feels good to get back to basics. The 8" and 10-1/4" were good for me, and I got the lid for the 10-1/4" pot also. I wouldn't recommend smaller than the 8".
