Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Lodge Logic L8SK3 10-1/4-Inch Pre-Seasoned Skillet

Customer Review: The best kitchen tool I ever purchased!
Summary: 5 Stars

This pan is used daily at my house. I make breakfast in it.(Pancakes, bacon, omlettes/scrambled/fried eggs and more) I make lunch with it. (Hamburgers, grilled cheese, etc.)And I make dinner in it. (Deep Dish Pizza, corn bread, fried foods, frozen foods layed out and baked in the oven...) THe list goes on. I even make dessert in it. (Apple pie is great baked in the cast iron.) I use it once a day or multiple times a day. I just love it. And the best part is the simple clean up! Simply run under hot water and if necessary wipe out with a steel wool.
I have a few different sized pans, as well as a variety of seasoned and unseasoned.
By far this 10" is the best. It is not too heavy, and just the right size for just about anything I make. I also like that seasoned look and it is smoother than the unseasoned. All round it is the best kichen tool I have ever purchased.
I also think that having the extra iron in my diet is a plus!

Customer Review: Nice size, nice price
Summary: 5 Stars

I noticed a review from April stated they that Amazon.com is the only place they know of that sell these skillets for this low price. A week or so ago I picked one up from a Wal-Mart in Birmingham, Alabama, for, I think $9.86 (plus 9% sales tax).

I previously bought a Lodge Logic 5-quart dutch oven from Amazon (with free shipping, of course) and the lid from the dutch oven fits perfectly on this size skillet. I could have gotten a larger skillet, but the 10.25" one is a nice size that is not too small or too large. Mom has two very old cast iron skillets, one is about six inches (too small for my needs) and one that is 12 inches (too large for my needs, usually), so having used various sizes I am quite happy with this one.

My advice: if you want a medium-size cast iron skillet, this is the one to get, whether you pick it up from Wal-Mart or order it from Amazon.

Customer Review: Timeless
Summary: 5 Stars

I tried cast iron in the past, but was always disappointed with the outcome: a rusty pan with no good use. Not so with the Lodge. I was reading about the factory seasoning they apply, and they say it is like seasoning it yourself 20 times. Nice!

So far, I have been able to cook eggs easily, sear meats beautifully, and even deep fry in it. I couldn't be happier.

I love the fact that this product is made in the USA. I once bought a "cast iron" pan made in China. While seasoning it, black paint started coming off! I don't trust any of my cookware to be made in China anymore, after that experience.

I have been looking for an alternative to non-stick pans, due to the harmful coatings and durability issues. This is it for me. I will never go back to non-stick after trying Lodge. I will be getting the 12 inch pan and dutch oven soon as well.

Customer Review: Great pan for the money
Summary: 5 Stars

This pan does exactly what it advertises. The preseasoning worked well and you should treat the pan properly to keep the seasoning "healthy." The 10 1/4 inch is a good size for many things and fits well on a large burner. Keep in mind if you go bigger the pan will be that much heavier.

I use the pan for making Swedish pancakes, and cast iron is the only type of pan you will find an authentic Swedish pancake cooking in. When you get your pan, google a Swedish pancake recipe and give them a try. Much thinner than the traditional pancake.

The only thing I don't like about the pan is that it didn't come with a handle insulator. I realize it is clearly advertised and doesn't claim to have a handle insulator, so I am still giving the product 5 stars. I just wish Lodge Logic would include an insulator, even if they have to jack up the price a couple bucks.

Customer Review: I Love these things!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

These are the Best Pans Ever!!! Can't go wrong with anything Lodge cast iron. For one, it's made in U.S.A. And you'll never find better cast iron ware, and to boot it is totally affordable! As affordable, if not more so, than all that awful teflon coated Aluminum stuff out there! Love the way the food cooks up, just such a pleasure even to cook with. And clean up is a snap too!!! Amazing what hot water can do. Follow the directions (No Soap!), and you won't be sorry you bought them. Lodge cast iron cookware is the last & only set you will ever need. I found only one single drawback, but it is one I will put up with, which is that they are heavy, so a little unwieldy at times when cleaning, but like I said, I'll put up with it in exchange for the many advantages of using seasoned cast iron instead of anything else. I will eventually replace all my cookware with cast iron from Lodge.
