Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Lodge Logic L5SK3 Pre-Seasoned Cast-Iron 8-Inch SkilletCustomer Review: Great little pan Summary: 5 Stars
My wife thought I was wasting money when I first bought a cast iron skillet, but now she uses it all the time. She took over the last pan so I bought this smaller one for my omelets. This preseasoned pan works great. But don't expect perfect non-stick results on day one; it needs some time to break in. You will need to use cooking spray and the more use it gets, the slicker the surface becomes. Don't use soap to clean. Just use warm or hot water and squirt a little cooking spray on it before you put it away. Cast iron will last a lifetime and go ahead and use those metal utensils if you wish.
Customer Review: 13 dollars? what a great choice! Summary: 5 Stars
This is my first cast iron skillet. After trying it out for a couple of months, I totally love it.
I find it perfect for cooking one or two eggs in the morning. Because it's so small, it's not too heavy at all. So if you don't like the weight of cast iron cookware, this one is not a problem.
Things like eggs got sticky at the beginning, but after several times of use, it became as easy as non-stick skillets. Even better, I use less oil to cook eggs with this skillet. A very thin layer of oil will do the job. Things taste same or less greasy, and it feels much healthier.
Customer Review: This is my everyday pan! Summary: 5 Stars
I hated my mother's cast iron skillet, it was so big and heavy, but she had to feed a family of nine. Now I am getting reaquainted with cast iron, and wish I hadn't stayed away so long. The 8" is perfect for me, not so much heavy, as solid. Heats pretty quick, clean up and care is simple. I have left teflon on the burner before and am not surprized that the horrid smell is also toxic. I'd rather have the added iron in my diet instead of teflon or alluminum. It's easy to see why Lodge has stood the test of time, quality and affordability together are hard to find! Quick shipping too! Two forks up!
Customer Review: for smaller portions Summary: 5 Stars
I have had a larger size skillet which I have been using for nearly twenty years now, but as the family grew smaller I needed a smaller size. This size makes a great frittata for two, just enought bolognese sauce for two and all my other favourite recipes. It was non-stick instantly, easy to care for and worked in exactly the way it is supposed to. Great for toasting spices and seeds too. Sometimes I do make larger batches in the bigger pan and freeze half, but this is still becoming as indispensable as its big brother. Next trick will be a tarte tatin....
Great price too.
Customer Review: Finally, preseasoned cast iron! Summary: 5 Stars
Boy am I glad that I found these here on Amazon. I just love the taste of food cooked in cast iron but absolutely hate taking care of it. My first set rusted on me since I was clueless and now, well, I don't have to worry as much! The preseasoning is just wonderful and cleanup is just a snap. You can't use soap on these pans, just hot water and a soft brush. You can even spray with Pam instead of rubbing on oil if you'd like. What a great idea - now I just wish they'd compete with Le Creuset and make the porcelain-covered cast iron. That would just be perfect!
